Job Title: Certified Medical Coder – Outpatient & Emergency Department📍 Location: Bronx, NY 💼 Employment Type: Contract 🏠Work Arrangement: Remote after initial onsite trainingJob SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Certified Medical Coder with strong Outpatient and Emergency Department coding experience in an acute care setting. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in ICD-10, CPT-4, coding compliance, and healthcare reimbursement guidelines while working independently with minimal supervision.Key Responsibilities• Perform accurate medical coding for Outpatient and Emergency Department records in an acute care environment • Review clinical documentation and assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT-4, and HCPCS codes • Ensure compliance with coding regulations, payer guidelines, and federal billing standards • Utilize EPIC and 3M/HDS coding applications for coding and documentation processes • Research and resolve coding-related issues and discrepancies • Maintain coding accuracy, productivity, and quality standards • Collaborate with clinical and billing teams regarding documentation and coding clarification • Assist with coder training and coding quality initiatives when neededRequired Qualifications• Minimum 3–4 years of acute care medical coding experience • Strong Outpatient and Emergency Department coding experience required • Proficiency with EPIC and 3M/HDS coding systems • Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT-4, Encoder, anatomy, physiology, and disease processes • Ability to work independently with minimal training and supervision • Excellent analytical, organizational, and computer skillsRequired CertificationsOne of the following certifications is required: • CCS • CCP • RHIA • RHIT(Certifications must be from AHIMA)Education Requirements• High School Diploma or GED requiredPreferred Skills• Knowledge of coding compliance and payer guidelines • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities • Effective communication and documentation skillsSchedule & Work Setup• Initial onsite training for 1–2 weeks in Bronx, NY • Transition to remote work after training completion • 35 hours per week | 7 hours per dayPride Health offers eligible employees comprehensive healthcare coverage (medical, dental, and vision plans), supplemental coverage (accident insurance, critical illness insurance, and hospital indemnity), 401(k) retirement savings, life & disability insurance, an employee assistance program, legal support, auto and home insurance, pet insurance, and employee discounts with preferred vendors.
