Job Title: Stainless Steel WelderReports To: Stainless Steel ForemanApproved Date: 1/2026Summary:Welds stainless steel tanks and assemblies using MIG welding equipment in a shop environment, following layouts, welding diagrams, blueprints, and work orders.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Perform welding operations safely in accordance with company safety policies and proceduresRead and interpret tank sketches, blueprints, welding diagrams, and work ordersAccurately measure materials using a tape measure and other basic measuring toolsPosition parts in jigs, fixtures, or by clamping components together per layout marksSelect appropriate welder settings based on welding charts, material type, and thicknessPerform MIG welding on 300-series stainless steel components, including vertical and overhead weldsLay out, position, and tack weld workpieces prior to final weldingExamine completed welds for bead size, appearance, and compliance with specificationsGrind, chip, or remove excess weld, slag, or spatter as requiredClean, degrease, and prepare parts before and after weldingPerform repairs to cracked or damaged metal components, including filling holes and building up materialAssist with tank pressure testing in accordance with written procedures, specifications, and supervisionMaintain welding equipment in proper working condition, including torches, wire, and machinesComplete required quality control and production documentationWillingness to learn new welding and other technologies as adoptedMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work area on a daily basisPerform other related duties as assignedSupervisory Responsibilities:This position has no supervisory responsibilities.QualificationsExperience:Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience welding 300-series stainless steel, preferably in the 12-gauge thickness range, in a fabrication or manufacturing environmentExperience with tank fabrication is preferredEducation:High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required with relevant welding experienceSkills and Abilities:Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carryingAbility to stand and work on feet for extended periodsAbility to safely navigate and work in a fabrication shop environmentBasic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with welding tools and shop equipmentLanguage Skills:Ability to read and understand simple instructions, work orders, and safety documentationAbility to complete basic written documentationAbility to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkersMathematical Skills:Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide basic numbersAbility to apply measurements involving length, weight, and volumeReasoning Ability:Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructionsAbility to handle routine tasks with occasional variables in a production environmentPowered by JazzHRwHVx52mgqE
