Dean of Workforce and Career Technical Education
Position Summary
The Dean of Workforce and Career Technical Education provides strategic leadership and oversight for the division’s credit and non-credit programs. Responsibilities include program development, accreditation, supervision of personnel, budget and resource management, and fostering partnerships with industry to meet regional workforce needs. The Dean collaborates with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders to ensure quality programming that supports student success and community engagement.

SALARY: Appropriate placement on Salary Schedule B (range: $100,936 - $143,669).
ANTICIPATED START DATE: MARCH 1, 2026
This position will be based initially at Wallace in Dothan, Alabama.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Program Oversight
Lead the planning, development, and continuous improvement of all Workforce and CTE programs.
Align curricula with labor market trends and technological advances.
Monitor enrollment and support student recruitment, retention, and success.
Build partnerships with business, industry, and government agencies to support apprenticeships, internships, and employment pathways.
Participate in regional workforce initiatives and consortiums.
Write and manage grants, including Perkins, and oversee physical and fiscal support for programs.
Accreditation & Compliance
Ensure compliance with policies of ACCS, ACHE, SACSCOC, and programmatic accrediting bodies.
Oversee accreditation processes and reporting; coordinate curriculum reviews, data collection, and documentation for internal and external reporting.
Develop and implement operational policies and procedures aligned with state and institutional standards.
Maintain accurate, up-to-date course catalogs and program information.
Develop program schedules and update college catalog sections annually.
Maintain accreditation documentation and outcomes assessments.
Prepare required state and institutional reports.
Collaborate on college-wide academic policies and procedures.
Supervision & Personnel Management
Complete credential verification for faculty.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide professional development opportunities.
Manage staff schedules, approve leave requests, and handle disciplinary actions.
Support employee growth through coaching, training, and travel support for conferences.
Curriculum Management
Serve as curriculum specialist for Workforce and CTE programs.
Collaborate with faculty to revise programs based on industry trends and student needs.
Coordinate program and course development to reflect workforce needs.
Submit curriculum for local and state approvals; ensure alignment with accreditation requirements.
Oversee course scheduling, textbook selection, and instructional material approvals.
Maintain instructional consistency across campuses and delivery modes.
Facilitate program development, including new courses, concentrations, and certificates.
Resource & Fiscal Management
Manage program budgets, submit annual allocation requests, and approve expenditures.
Oversee state, federal, and other grant fund usage, reporting, inventory, and compliance.
Negotiate vendor services (e.g., equipment, testing platforms) and handle invoice payments.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge of accreditation, workforce education, grant writing, and curriculum design.
Strong leadership, project management, data analysis, and decision-making skills.
Ability to develop and maintain industry partnerships and cross-campus collaboration.
Advanced communication, budgeting, and supervisory skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage multiple priorities.
Professionalism, leadership, teamwork, and the ability to motivate staff.
Proficiency with instructional and administrative technologies.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Administrative leadership to include experience at the level of Division Director, Director, Associate Dean, Dean, or equivalent senior position.
Master’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
A minimum of five years of post-secondary teaching experience in Workforce or Career Technical Education, or a combination of teaching and senior leadership experience in Workforce, Career Technical Education, or business and industry.
Proven success building partnerships with industry and community organizations.
Experience with program accreditation and compliance.
Availability for travel and non-standard work hours.
Preferred Qualifications
Progressive administrative leadership in higher education, including experience at the level of Division Director, Director, Associate Dean, Dean, or equivalent senior position.
Prior Associate Dean or Dean experience.
Experience developing programs, internships, Co-Op, or apprenticeships.
ADVISORY COMMITTEE: The President will appoint an Advisory and Interview Committee to include representatives of the College faculty and staff. This committee will employ appropriate procedures, including the review of application packets, interview, and demonstration of competency, to determine which applicants are to be recommended to the President for further consideration. From all the applications received, an advisory committee will select the applicants to be interviewed.
