The role involves working closely with the Senior Network Engineer to maintain Cisco networking equipment, assist with F5 BIG-IP services, and manage DNS and IP address provisioning. A CCNA or equivalent certification is required.\n*US Citizenship or Green Card holder and the ability to obtain a public trust. *\n*This is a hybrid role in Durham, North Carolina. *\nWhat You'll Do\nNetwork Support and Maintenance:\nAssist in the configuration, management, and troubleshooting of Cisco network equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs, to support the network's day-to-day operations.\nHelp maintain LAN, WAN, and wireless network infrastructures to ensure consistent availability and performance.\nCollaborate with the Senior Network Engineer to implement network upgrades, expansions, and optimizations.\nF5 BIG-IP and Infoblox Support:\nSupport the configuration and maintenance of F5 BIG-IP services, including Local Traffic Manager (LTM) and Global Traffic Manager (GTM), as part of the network's traffic management.\nAssist with the management of DNS services using Infoblox appliances, including IP address management and troubleshooting.\nPerformance Monitoring and Troubleshooting:\nMonitor network performance using SolarWinds tools such as Network Performance Monitor (NPM) and NetFlow Traffic Analyzer (NTA) to identify and address potential issues.\nTroubleshoot network problems, working to quickly restore services and minimize impact on operations.\nProvide support in optimizing traffic flow and network performance through data analysis and troubleshooting efforts.\nNetwork Security and Compliance:\nAssist in implementing network security measures, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and VPNs, in coordination with the network security team.\nHelp ensure compliance with federal security standards, such as FISMA and NIST guidelines, through regular monitoring and participation in security assessments.\nDocumentation and Reporting:\nUpdate and maintain documentation of network configurations, changes, and procedures, ensuring accuracy and alignment with organizational standards.\nFollow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and assist in developing documentation to support network management tasks.\nContribute to reports on network status, performance, and security, providing data-driven insights to the Senior Network Engineer and other stakeholders.\nCollaboration and Teamwork:\nWork closely with the Senior Network Engineer and other team members to execute network projects and initiatives.\nProvide technical support and assistance to other IT teams as needed, ensuring seamless integration of network services.\nRequired Knowledge and Skills\nB.S. in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience.\nMinimum of 3-5 years of experience in network engineering, with hands-on experience managing and troubleshooting network environments.\nKnowledge of Cisco networking technologies, including routing, switching, firewalls, and VPNs.\nRequired: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent.\nBasic understanding of network security principles and best practices.\nAbility to support the implementation of security measures and monitoring activities.\nAbility to obtain a Public Trust clearance is required\nContribute to the management of F5 BIG-IP services and DNS/IP address provisioning under the guidance of senior team members.\nAbilities\nAbility to troubleshoot and resolve network issues with guidance, maintaining high availability and performance.\nDemonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented environment, collaborating effectively with senior team members.\nSupport the reliability and performance of the network infrastructure by assisting in troubleshooting and configuration tasks.\nMaintain accurate documentation and follow established SOPs to support network operations and compliance efforts.\nNice to Haves\nDesirable: Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or working towards it.\nFamiliarity with F5 BIG-IP services and Infoblox appliances is a plus.\nExperience with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds (NPM, NTA) is desirable\nWhy Tantus?
