Supporting the world’s bravest.\n\nJob Summary\n\nThe Assistant Controller leads and strengthens the organization’s accounting function by monitoring department policies and procedures, recommending improvements, and serving as a key resource across all aspects of accounting. The incumbent will manage the preparation of daily, monthly, annual, and other periodic financial statements, tax reports, and required governmental filings—ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP and applicable government regulations. The position partners closely with senior management to help establish and implement major goals and objectives, deliver operational reports and analyses, and conduct cost, ratio, and trend analysis to support sound decision-making. The incumbent may also serve as a liaison with external auditors and regulatory authorities while ensuring accurate internal and external recording and reporting of financial transactions. This is an exciting opportunity for growth, offering the chance to lead teams, mentor staff, and help advance the mission, values, and culture of the organization.\n\nJob Responsibilities\nMonitor department policies and procedures and recommend improvements; consult with the Senior Management team; participate in establishing and implementing major goals and objectives; and serve as a resource in all aspects of accounting\nManage the preparation of daily, monthly, annual, and other periodic financial statements and tax reports\nEnsure that external document submissions and filings are accurate and timely\nEnsure that accounting records and reports are in compliance with GAAP and government regulations\nMay serve as a liaison between the company and external auditors and regulatory authorities\nComplete reports and analyses of departmental and area operations as requested by senior management\nConduct cost analysis, ratio and trend analysis, and other comparative examinations as appropriate\nReview, analyze, and interpret financial and budgetary reports (i.e., annual financial forecasts); provide reports required by governmental regulations\nManage the assignment, direction, and evaluation of personnel to ensure efficient operations\nEnsure accurate internal and external recording and reporting of financial transactions\nEnsure that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal, regulatory, and Company procedures\nEstablish accounting plans, goals, and policies that are consistent with established company-wide goals\nEnsure that policies are in accordance with evolving regulations, legal requirements, and industry trends\nSupport, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization\nPerform special assignments as requested by senior management\nMentor staff\nQualifications\nBachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA or Master’s degree is preferred.\n7+ years of full-cycle, general ledger accounting required\n2+ years working in accounting in a defense environment strongly preferred\n2+ years of leadership experience or an equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities for leadership\n2+ years of SOX experience required.\nThorough knowledge of financial and accounting practices and procedures\nUnderstanding of government regulations strongly perferred\nUnderstanding of government reporting requirements preferred\n\nTaking care of our people is a top priority at Leonardo DRS.
