Associate Criminal Defense Attorney

Description: Only those licensed to practice law in New Jersey will be considered for this position.This job is perfect for applicants right out of law school.We are a growing criminal defense practice seeking a licensed New Jersey attorney to handle DUI/DWI defense files.This role is ideal for an attorney who genuinely enjoys legal research, motion practice, and courtroom advocacy - and who wants meaningful work on cases that matter to clients.Manage and handle a caseload of DUI/DWI criminal defense files from intake through resolutionAppear in New Jersey municipal courts and Superior Courts, both in person and virtually as requiredDraft, research, and file pretrial motions, including motions to suppress, motions to dismiss, and other case-specific motionsPrepare legal briefs, case memoranda, and supporting legal arguments grounded in New Jersey case law and statutesConduct thorough legal research on DUI/DWI issues, including field sobriety tests, breathalyzer admissibility, stop and arrest procedures, and constitutional challengesReview discovery, analyze police reports, and identify defense strategies and weaknesses in the prosecution's caseCommunicate with clients, update them on case status, and provide sound legal counsel throughout the processNegotiate with prosecutors on plea agreements where appropriate, while always pursuing the best possible outcome for clientsMaintain organized, up-to-date case files and meet all court deadlines and filing requirementsQualifications:Only those licensed to practice law in New Jersey will be considered for this position.Active license to practice law in New Jersey in good standing with the New Jersey State BarAbility and willingness to appear in court both in person and via remote/virtual hearingsStrong legal research and writing skills with the ability to produce well-organized, persuasive motions and briefsExperience in criminal defense, preferably with DUI/DWI cases in New Jersey municipal or Superior CourtGenuine enthusiasm for motion practice and legal writing - this role involves significant research and drafting workAbout CompanyWe are a growing legal team of three attorneys and six administrative support staff in the State of New Jersey.Compensation:$75,000 - $100,000 yearlyWe defend clients with criminal DUI and traffic ticket-related matters.We aim to deliver the best results for clients with top-notch customer service.Paid time offOutstanding company cultureFlexible remote and in-person work scheduleWe train and educate our new attorne
