In this role, you will be responsible for designing, enhancing, and developing single and multi-system applications as part of a structured Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process.\n\nResponsibilities:\n\nEssential Functions\n\nProvides solutions for complex software problems for existing applications\nMaintains, improves, and extends existing software with limited assistance from other associates\nWorks collaboratively/professionally in a team environment to determine general approach and specific solutions to technical problems and achieve goals\nCollaborates with global engineering teams using exciting technologies including Vue.js, Node.js, Express, GraphQL, Elasticsearch, CSS3, and HTML5\nReviews complex tasks for soundness of technical judgment and overall adequacy/accuracy\nWorks with Garmin IT Analysts to develop/implement unit and system testing processes for single or multi system projects\nResponsible for planning small/medium-sized projects or tasks, makes substantial contributions to determining the feasibility of goals/objectives, and provides reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques\nPerforms technical root cause analysis and outlines corrective action for given problems\nServes as a mentor to less experienced IT Software Engineers (Software Engineer 1)\nDemonstrates proficient use/knowledge of established standards/procedures, learns how to use/apply engineering tools as needed, and documents work thoroughly and in an organized manner\nUnderstands change is important and adapts well, demonstrates quality/effectiveness in work documentation and organization, and participates in project definition activities including feature analysis and system tradeoffs\nDesigns, enhances and develops single and multi-system applications written in Java\nQualifications:\n\nBasic Qualifications\n\nAll Teams:\n\nBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or related field AND a minimum of 2 years relevant experience\nExcellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)\nDemonstrated experience in successful implementation of technology solutions\nMust demonstrate proficiency and possess experience necessary to design, enhance and develop single and multi-system applications\nDemonstrated ability to learn and understand secure coding practices\nDemonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills\nMust possess programming experience using Java, Java Server Pages (JSP), Java Servlets, JDBC, Java Enterprise Edition technologies, O/R mapping (Hibernate, Toplink), Java Web Frameworks (Struts, JSF)\nDemonstrated proficiency in writing software in developmental languages (JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, React/Vue/Angular, HTML/CSS)\nMust demonstrate an understanding of web standards (XHTML, CSS) relevant to Garmin’s business needs\n\nDesired Qualifications\n\nOutstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)\nPrevious experience working in a team environment\n\nGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
