Job Description Salary: $33/hourLooking for meaningful work with flexible hours and great pay?Come help support home care workers in delivering vital training they need to be successful in their jobs, as part of the Minnesota Home Care Orientation Trust, a critical new labor-management partnership dedicated to empowering home care workers and improving the services provided to Minnesota seniors and people with disabilities.About the Minnesota Home Care Orientation TrustIn 2023, a new orientation program was created through a groundbreaking union contract between the State of Minnesota and SEIU Healthcare Minnesota and Iowa, the union of over 35,000 Minnesota home care workers. For too long, home care work has been undervalued, despite its importance in the lives of so many people with disabilities and seniors who rely on home care workers every day. Consumer-directed home care workers unionized in 2014 and have made steady progresssince inimproving the pay, benefits, and training opportunities they receive.The goal of the Orientation Trust is to support home careworkers in being successfulin their roles.Through our program, workers will know what is expected of them as professional caregivers, how the states programs work, how to care for themselves while doing this work, what benefits are available to them, and where to go forassistanceas they learn their new jobs. This ensures that Minnesotans can get the care they need in their homes, live the lives they choose, and that their caregivers are cared for as well.Position Summary and QualificationsThe Trainer will conduct orientation sessions via zoom to diverse groups of home care workersutilizinga curriculum that was jointly developed by labor and management partners. Orientation sessions include Trainer presentations, groupdiscussionsand participatory activities. The curriculum was designed to support home care workers in understanding what is expected of them as professional caregivers, how the states programs work, how to care for themselves while doing this work, what benefits are available to them, and where to go for assistance as they learn their new jobs. The orientation sessions will initially be offered as remote sessions. Some travel will berequiredfor thosefacilitatingfuture in-person sessions.Trainers may also play a role in performing outreach to home care workers to encourage them to register for and attend orientation sessions.Duties and ResponsibilitiesConduct orientation sessionsutilizingthe curriculum as outlined in the Orientation Instructors Guide, slide deck andtoolkit;Provide technical,logisticaland other support to ensure an accessible and positive experience for all participants, including managing the virtual meeting tech andassistingparticipants with navigating tech features, recording attendance, and providing support for the Trainer who is teaching the Orientation. (Each orientation session will be staffed by a team of two)Perform outreach to home care workers through phone,textand email outreach to enroll and confirm workersto participatein orientation sessions.Collaborate with fellow trainers and managers to develop and test best practices for delivering orientation, including through feedback from your peers and supervisor.Accept feedback andutilizedifferent teaching styles and methods to accommodate various learning styles.Desired Qualifications:Flexibility to work varied days and times including evenings and weekendsFamiliarity with home careFamiliarity with labor unions, disabilityjusticeand/or other movements for social justiceExperience delivering adult education, leading trainings/workshopsand leading dynamic group discussionsDemonstrated respect for and ability to work with diverse populationsFluency in written and spoken English, with fluency in languages other than English a bonusProficient technology skills, includingproficiencywith virtual meeting softwareProficient with basic data entry and database skillsReliable internet serviceExcellent organizational and motivational skillsTimely and reliableValid drivers license and access to reliable vehicle or transportationStatusThis job is temporary part-time with potential for permanent employment.This job does not provide benefits but will provide Minnesota required time off and paid leave.Equal Opportunity EmployerWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
