Selections for each will be based upon meeting minimum qualifications and passing interview results.*\r\nResponsible for attending an agency-approved Criminal Justice Academy. Incumbent must complete physical training each day (1 hour), classwork and exams on legal issues, policies, procedures, etc., and high-risk class portions (firearms, driving training, etc.). Duties also include following the policies and procedures of the Agency, and performing duties as assigned.\r\nPositions will be filled based on interview performance and position availability.Applicants may be selected for either the Law Enforcement Cadet or Detention Cadet position, and placement in the preferred position is not guaranteed.\r\nApplicants must be available when required to complete tasks and processes associated with qualifying for these positions. Failure to be available or participate as required may result in disqualification from the selection process.\r\nApplicants selected for the Law Enforcement Cadet and Detention Cadet positions must successfully pass a Basic Motor Skills Test (BMST) that meets the standards of the designated Police Academy. Failure to pass the required BMST may result in disqualification from the position.\r\nAttends Academy classes.\r\nStudies outside of class.\r\nEnsures that their work area is clean, organized, safe and presentable in accordance with agency policies and procedures.\r\nProcesses applicable incoming and outgoing documents and/or files in a timely manner consistent with supervisory direction and/or agency policies/procedures.\r\nParticipates in cross-training with other co-workers; assists those co-workers when the need arises and learns new tasks by working together as a team.\r\nReports identified or potential maintenance, safety, and/or non-compliance findings, hazards, and incidents to the appropriate personnel and/or department.\r\nTimely completes all assignments, special projects, and budgetary requirements (if applicable) as directed, adhering to applicable agency policies.\r\nAdheres to leave and attendance policies, including punctual arrival and completing full shifts. Informs the supervisor about illness or untimely incidents, reports overtime hours worked, and timely submits timesheet, attendance, and leave requests.\r\nRegularly checks assigned mailbox, phone calls, PowerDMS, and email messages, responding promptly and professionally.\r\nMakes assigned chain of command aware of anything noteworthy.\r\nResponds to supervision, guidance, direction, and feedback from executive staff and superiors in a receptive manner and in accordance with agency policies.\r\nConducts themselves in a polite, helpful, courteous, ethical, and professional manner, abiding by the established code of ethics, and demonstrates a courteous and professional image when engaged in any activity with the public.\r\nCultivates positive working relationships with colleagues and other agency units to enhance work area output and services in line with agency policies.\r\nDemonstrates an understanding, consideration, and respect of cultural, religious, and gender differences when interacting with the public and coworkers.\r\nActively participate in job-specific training.\r\nOperates and performs minor repairs for office equipment to manufacturers specifications and/or within the specified parameters pursuant to agency policies.\r\nPerforms other duties as assigned.\r\nMinimum Education, Experience and Requirements:Minimum age requirement of 19 years old.\r\nHigh school diploma or an acceptable equivalency diploma (GED).\r\nInternal candidates must have successfully completed their probationary period\r\nInternal candidates with punitive disciplinary action within 365 days are ineligible\r\nProficient in Microsoft office products\r\nSpeak and understand the English language\r\nInternal candidates must have completed applicable CCSO FTEP requirements\r\nThe following items (or authorized equivalents) may be required at various steps in the application process:Driver's License\r\nBirth Certificate\r\nSocial Security Card\r\nForm DD214 for all periods served in the military\r\nGED or High School Diploma and Sealed Transcripts from the highest level of education\r\nFDLE Authority for Release (notarized)Must meet CCSO requirements for employment (including but not limited to):Polygraph\r\nMedical Physical\r\nPsychological Physical\r\nBackground InvestigationCertification, Licenses and Registrations Requirements:\r\nAcceptance at/with training academy selected by CCSO\r\n2 year contract with the CCSO after required training period.\r\nBenefits for full time positions include Florida Retirement System, a full suite of very affordable health/life/dental/vision benefits, ancillary insurance policies, college reimbursement, and more.
