The role supports overseas programs through operational oversight, student services, faculty collaboration, and institutional representation. This position also contributes to international scholarship coordination, participant support, and health and safety practices connected to study abroad opportunities.\n\nKey responsibilities\n\nManage the development and administration of study abroad and exchange programs\n\nOversee budgeting and financial management for programs\n\nCoordinate faculty recruitment for abroad programs\n\nPromote programs and support student participation\n\nManage student selection and orientation processes\n\nCoordinate financial aid support related to study abroad participation\n\nSupport re-entry programming for returning students\n\nConduct program evaluation activities\n\nOversee logistics including housing, registration, and insurance\n\nProvide leadership to study abroad staff and affiliated faculty\n\nOversee exchange relationships with partner institutions\n\nCoordinate international scholarship programs including Fulbright and Gilman\n\nServe as the university’s international representative\n\nSupport health and safety best practices for study abroad participants\n\nSupervise advising related to study, work, and travel abroad\n\nRequirements\n\nMaster’s degree in a related field\n\nTwo years of experience managing study abroad programs\n\nPreferred: one semester of studying, working, or living abroad outside the United States\n\nIllinois residency must be established within 180 days of start for out-of-state hires\n\nSponsorship for work authorization is not available WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS This director position plays an important role in expanding international learning opportunities for students and strengthening institutional exchange partnerships.
