Our current projects include a HIPAA-compliant clinician dashboard, EEG data collection applications, and cognitive assessments tailored to patient needs.\nPosition Overview\nWe are seeking a skilled Full-Stack Engineer with expertise in secure database management, authentication systems, and compliance with healthcare standards (HIPAA). The role’s primary focus will be to establish a robust, secure backend for our applications, prioritizing data integrity, user access control, and high standards for documentation and version control. Proficiency in GitHub and a deep understanding of Git workflows is essential for this role.\nKey Responsibilities\nVersion Control (High Priority)\nApply best practices for GitHub usage and version control, managing Git branches, pull requests, and release cycles for any and all code.\nDatabase and Backend Development (High Priority)\nDesign and maintain secure database architecture for clinical and patient data using Postgres (AWS RDS), supporting seamless data retrieval, integrity, and scalability.\nImplement HIPAA-compliant data security through encryption, AWS IAM roles, and secure configuration of EC2 and RDS for patient data protection.\nEstablish clear, accessible documentation for backend processes and API endpoints, ensuring maintainability and ease of knowledge transfer for team members.\nUser Authentication and Role-Based Access Control (Medium Priority)\nIntegrate Auth0 to securely manage user authentication and establish role-based access control for clinicians, researchers, and administrators.\nDocument and implement protocols for user roles and permissions, ensuring that patient data remains secure and accessible only to authorized users.\nFrontend Development in React (Medium Priority)\nSupport and enhance the React-based clinician dashboard, particularly focusing on components for patient session data, real-time data visualization, and user interaction.\nBuild and document reusable front-end components that are HIPAA-compliant and ensure an intuitive user experience for clinicians and researchers.\nQualifications\nGitHub expertise with advanced knowledge of Git workflows, including branching, pull requests, and release management.\nProven experience with Django and Postgres (AWS RDS), including schema design, data migration, and secure database management.\nStrong understanding of authentication workflows and access control systems, preferably with Auth0.\nSolid frontend skills in React for building interactive user interfaces.\nAWS expertise in EC2, S3, Lambda, Secrets Manager, and IAM for secure, scalable application deployment.\nExceptional documentation skills to ensure code, workflows, and processes are well-documented, supporting team collaboration and regulatory compliance.\nAdditional Helpful Skills\nExperience with data visualization libraries like D3.js, Chart.js, or Plotly for data displays\nKnowledge of CI/CD practices and Github Actions to streamline development and deployment workflows\nFamiliarity with IoT, data streams, biosignal sensor (e.g., EEG, smart watch, etc.) data\nApplication Process\nPlease submit your resume, a link to your GitHub / GitLab profile or portfolio, and a brief summary of your experience with database security, authentication, and GitHub workflows.
