To instruct student participants in Dance/Drill Team.Qualifications:Education/Certification:* Bachelor's degree* Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assignedSpecial Knowledge/Skills:* Experience as a sponsor and/or membership in a high school and/or college dance program that participated in camps and performance competitions preferredExperience:* Teacher experience preferredMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Provide instruction to the students.Coordinate spirit activities for the support of athletic programs on campusCoordinate and actively prepare students for quality participation in tryouts, performances, camps, and optional competitions.Actively participate in campus/district spirit organization meetings.Maintain accurate inventory, budget, maintenance, and general operations of uniforms, equipment, etc.Coordinate the scheduling of transportation, attendance and performances at athletic and other school activities.Effectively communicate and coordinate with administration, parents, coaching staff, band directors, etc.Actively participate in professional organizations which foster and support quality pep, dance and cheerleading programs.Actively participate in professional development of personal teaching of pep, dance and cheerleading competencies.Works with the other campus directors in coordinating staff assignments to supervisespirit activities and events on/off campusAll cheer directors who are dance certified teachers must also actively participate in professional development of a strong fine arts dance program outside of the spirit organization.Support all district policies regarding the welfare and education of studentsPerform any other duties as assigned by principal.Working Conditions:Mental Demands:Maintain emotional control under stressPhysical Demands/Environmental Factors:Frequent standing, stooping, bending pulling and pushing; move and carry small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment; occasional lifting of 35 lbs. or more
