Meter Field Service Technician

Field Technician (Licensed Electrician)Our client, one of North America’s leading and most experienced sub metering providers, is expanding their Field Service team. They are looking for a licensed Electrician who brings strong field experience, professionalism, and a customer focused mindset.This is an excellent opportunity for a hands on technician who enjoys independent work, problem solving, and traveling to a variety of residential and commercial sites. Metering experience is not required, but an asset—full training is provided.What You’ll DoPerform meter installations, site investigations, and building surveys across residential and commercial properties.Conduct regulatory inspections and meter work on systems up to 240V.Install and configure metering equipment, including low voltage communications wiring (Ethernet, RS-485, RS-422, RS-232, dry contact pulse).For electrical backgrounds: work with panels, current transformers, communication wiring, and low voltage setups (no heavy electrical landing).Investigate and resolve communication and data acquisition issues.Configure cellular modems and serial communication boxes (DB9).Support customer meter investigations in both residential suites and commercial spaces.Identify and communicate deficiencies in installations and ensure accurate documentation.Coordinate on site work with electricians, contractors, and building superintendents.Read and interpret single line drawings and installation designs.Design and build communication networks (TCP/IP, RS-485 daisy chains, Qradios).Complete field service reporting within 24 hours of job completion.Occasionally support stockroom operations, deliveries, and inventory counts.Work Environment & SchedulePrimarily field based; technicians rarely need to be in the office.Local work throughout the Maryland areaTypical Schedule: 8–9 AM start, finishing around 3–4 PM EST.Flexibility to adjust hours to avoid traffic when appropriate.Travel required to states such as Florida, California, Arizona, and Texas.Typical travel cadence: 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off (flexible and negotiable).Company provided, fully outfitted work vehicle.What You BringLicensed Electrician (required).Valid driver’s license (required).Strong field experience in service work, electrical.Ability to learn metering systems and communication wiring.Hands on experience testing and repairing electrical devices or installations.Ability to use a voltmeter and basic hand tools.Strong customer service skills, especially in residential settings.Organized, professional, and reliable with strong follow through.Comfortable working independently or in pairs for safety.Willingness to travel and spend time on the road.
