This role ensures that each project adheres to regulatory requirements, company standards, and maintain consistency through. The Electrical Engineer will report directly to the Unit Manager and work closely with cross-functional project teams to support project needs as directed by the Project Manager and Unit Manager\nKey Responsibilities\nPerforms engineering analyses of the electric substation and transmission system and recommends actions to develop design options or recommendations for major substations and transmission construction projects.\nDevelops engineer conceptual design for substations and transmission line projects on Utilities.\nParticipate on the detailed design, performing engineering reviews, calculations and/or recommending drawings or system improvements, according standards or international codes.\nOriginates electric system and component reliability studies and outage contingency plans.\nCreates BID Forms for engineering services and/or PayCU’s for Construction services, to follow the company’s procurement policies.\nEnsure that all electrical documents are issued on time. Develops and validates information needed for engineering analyses and applies engineering judgment to solve complex technical problems.\nAnalyze and assess complex transmission systems at numerous voltage levels.\nDocument and communicate results and recommendations as appropriate including data manipulation, report writing, and summary presentations.\nOversee quality aspects of engineering, including compliance with design standards and accuracy of documentation, field analysis and reporting, and test data.\nLead collaborative analysis and review of projects, studies, and best practices with Engineering peers.\nEffectively manage external engineering partners. Ensure project risks are identified, understood, and addressed on time.\nParticipate in substation site inspections and project meetings as needs arise.\nAssists during storm restoration effort.\nDirects engineering contractors and consultants. Ensure effective communications with other engineering disciplines, project management and client teams.\nImplements new technology to enhance power system performance when required.\nProvides power system commissioning support and supervision when required.\nProvides engineering support during construction and testing and commissioning phases when required.\nRequired Qualifications\nExperience and Education :\nBachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.\n3-5 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering and design for utilities.\nCAD Drafting, PLS-CADD Modeling, and other Engineering tools.\nConstruction and Outage Sequencing.\nIndustry Codes, Standards, and Regulations.\nPreferred Qualifications\nKnowledge on Electric substations and transmission systems planning, operations, and/or protection.\nKnowledge of running and analyzing electric power load flows.\nKnowledge of FERC and state regulations.\nExperience utilizing AutoCAD and other Engineering tools.\nExperience working with contractors\nCompetencies\nGrowth & Continuous Improvement\nInitiative & Change\nFocused on Results\nCustomer Centric (internal and/or External)\nCommunication\nCollaboration\nLeadership (people managers/leaders)\nDisclaimer\nAVANGRID is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
