Full time schedule 8 to 4:30Full Time 8:00am -4:30pm Job DescriptionResponsible for performing specialized and routine landscape installation and maintenance to general and specific areas of the community. In addition, will facilitate and assist in the execution of resident-based landscape activities.Education, Experience, Certification And Licensure RequirementsMinimum two years of experience in landscaping/grounds management and irrigation systems.Pool and spa certification required if pools or spas is on property.Pesticide applicator license required.Valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the Commonwealth of Virginia and meet Pinnacle Living risk management requirements.Job DutiesProvide specialized horticultural services not included in service contract including but not limited to pruning of select trees and plant materials plus installation and maintenance of seasonal color: annual and perennial flowers/foliage. Maintain natural areas Preserve, Pond, Trails consistent with the landscape design and needs of the resident community.Support and facilitate horticulture activities to include:Garden volunteers, programs, and activitiesResident Community Gardeners and GardensPreparation of planting beds plus instruction and guidance in plantingWorkshops or activities related to horticulture, nature, and pondsMaintains a list of landscape related activities and swimming pools/spa needs for planning and executing in-house and contract service options. Assists as a contact between the community and contractors to ensure services meet the needs and the terms of the contract. Monitors and maintains water quality of swimming pools, spa/hot tub which includes the associated chemical pumps and equipment that run each system. Acts as a liaison with irrigation maintenance contractors and horticulturist on start-up, winterization, system repairs and monitoring of controllers and run times as seasonally needed.Monitors and maintains water quality of pond water feature and which includes the associated pumps and equipment that run each system.Provides remedial watering support to community landscape beds, containers and seasonal plantings. Provides watering support to volunteers when they have a conflict.Provides support to community transportation requests when an unforeseen need arises including driving company vehicles for rounds or to shuttle residents and team members.All other duties as assigned.QualificationsBroad knowledge of plants, weeds, and insects common to the area.Knowledgeable in irrigation system operation and maintenance.Knowledgeable with the use of over-the-counter insecticides, fungicides and animal related control products and regulations.Knowledge of turf maintenanceAble to communicate effectively with the elderly and with other team members.Must possess a pleasant and cheerful manner and be able to work within a team.Anility to read, write and communicate using the English language.Physical RequirementsAble to lift up to 75lbs frequently and repeatedly in a standard working shift.Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and walking including outside on uneven surfaces.Works inside in a variety of settings and outside in heat and cold.Some weekend and evening work may be required.Must be available to work in inclement weather including weather emergencies such as snow and rainstorms.Exposure to the sights, sounds and odors of a typical long-term care and health care environment serving senior citizens, some with dementia.
