Position: Building EngineerLocation: Orlando, FLShift: 1st Shift: Monday - FridayEmployment: Contract to HirePay Rate: Competitive, based on experienceJob Description:We are seeking an experienced Building Engineer to serve as the technical lead for facility operations across multiple commercial and industrial sites, including office, warehouse, and production environments. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional with strong expertise in HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing, preventive maintenance, and facilities management.You will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of building systems, while driving continuous improvement initiatives, managing vendors, and supporting production uptime. This is a highly visible role that requires strong problem-solving skills, leadership, and the ability to work cross-functionally.Key Responsibilities:Lead troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), and building systemsPerform and schedule preventive maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance activitiesManage and prioritize CMMS work orders, ensuring timely completion and accurate documentationConduct routine facility inspections to proactively identify issues and implement solutionsCoordinate and oversee third-party vendors and subcontractors, ensuring quality and compliancePlan and schedule maintenance work to minimize disruption to operations and productionSupport procurement of parts, tools, and maintenance materialsMaintain attic stock inventory and ensure critical spare parts availabilityTroubleshoot complex system failures and implement corrective actionsGenerate purchase requisitions and manage maintenance-related documentationPartner with operations, production, and site leadership to align maintenance prioritiesSupport energy efficiency and sustainability initiativesEnsure compliance with safety standards, OSHA regulations, and company policiesContinuously improve maintenance procedures and operational processesRequired Skills/Education:High school diploma or equivalent; technical/trade school certification preferred5-10+ years of experience in commercial building maintenance, facilities engineering, or plant maintenanceStrong hands-on experience with:Commercial HVAC systems (air handlers, chillers, RTUs)Electrical systems and troubleshootingPlumbing systems and general building maintenanceAbility to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawingsExperience using CMMS systems for work order management and maintenance trackingStrong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skillsExcellent communication and customer service skillsExperience in maintenance planning/scheduling is a plusProficiency with basic computer systems and maintenance softwarePreferred Certifications:EPA Universal Certification (Section 608)OSHA 10 or 30 CertificationJourneyman Electrician or Plumbing LicenseBoiler Operator CertificationWhat We're Looking For:A proactive, self-driven professional who takes ownership and drives resultsStrong leadership mindset with the ability to influence and collaborate across teamsA solutions-oriented thinker who thrives in fast-paced environmentsCommitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvementAbility to balance hands-on technical work with planning and coordination responsibilitiesAbout Seneca Resources:At Seneca Resources, we are more than just a staffing and consulting firm-we are a trusted career partner.
