Cultural Cook Apprentice

OverviewThis position will work as a Cultural Cook Apprentice at the Cherokee Nation's Immersion Schools. It will be the duty of this position to research and study historically accurate Cherokee/Native foods and create recipes that are conducive to a modern taste palette, to reduce processed foods and replace it with healthier food options.QualificationsEDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one (1) year of specialized training or education. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT At least one (1) year of experience in a related field. COMPUTER SKILLSAn individual should have knowledge of Internet software. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Within the first (3) months of hire must obtain Food Handlers Certification and CACFP Review. OTHER QUALIFICATIONSThe employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Must meet and maintain periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care. PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; taste or smell. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly be exposed to wet or humid conditions, and work near moving mechanical parts. The employee may be frequently exposed to work in high, precarious places. The employee may occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold/heat (nonweather), risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
