Job description
VanCon specializes in building new infrastructures, remodels, and expansions in the civil construction industry. Since 1997, VanCon has been specializing in culinary water, wastewater, secondary irrigation, storm drain, parks, trails, pump stations, lift stations, treatment plants and other infrastructure projects helping local Municipalities and Districts maintain and expand their infrastructure for growth and upgrade aging facilities, throughout the state of Utah.
VanCon is searching for a Pipe Foreman to supervise a team of 2 to 5 people. The ideal candidate is someone who can manage a team to keep the project on time and under budget while ensuring safety for the crew and quality for the finished product. This position will require operating heavy equipment to install large pipes and culverts, inspecting work sites to determine the method of pipe installation, and establishing a safe work environment that complies with OSHA and company safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Provide vision, clarity, and openings for direct reports that align with the company vision
Provide quarterly priorities and measurables for each direct report
Maintain and deepen connections with each direct report by having quarterly conversations around performance
Ensure direct reports have the resources, training, and other needed assets to succeed in their roles
Execute successful pipe installation
Observe assigned equipment to detect machinery malfunctions
Review employee timecards
Keep equipment clean, submit regular inspection reports, and properly report damages and needed repairs to Superintendent
Chlorinate, flush, and pressure test various pipelines
Skills & Qualifications
5+ years of experience
Ability to use instruments such as lasers, grade rods, eye levels, and transit levels to set appropriate grade for pipe installation
Knowledge and understanding to read plans
HDPE Fusion welding
Know layout of job
Successfully and safely excavate around utilities
Install and use machine control
Meet budget and schedule requirements

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions and vibrations. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risks of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
