Our engineers routinely perform forensic investigations, provide consultation, prepare and deliver technical papers; and serve as expert witnesses. Our areas of practice include residential, commercial, and industrial buildings’ roofing, fenestration, foundation and envelopes; hazard assessments and resulting damage; and design and construction defect evaluation. Assignments will require regular local and regional travel and occasional national travel to project sites. Active involvement in professional associations and societies is encouraged and supported.\n\nJob Responsibilities\n\nConduct field observations, testing and data collection.\n\nPrepares reports detailing observations made, testing results, research conducted, and opinions or recommendations.\n\nDetermines appropriate repair methodologies based on local jurisdictional requirements.\n\nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications\n\nBachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited school\n\nPE or SE license in Chicago\n\n3+years of experience as a Civil or Structural Engineer.\n\nFamiliar with modern building codes and industry standards\n\nExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills\n\nExcellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills\n\nWilling to travel and conduct site inspections\n\nA desire to learn more about Forensic Engineering, excel and grow with us and within the profession\n\nValid Driver's License\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nExperience in engineering design or construction\n\nExperience conducting damage assessments and forensic investigations\n\nExperience conducting building envelope evaluations\n\nPhysical and Mental Job Qualifications\n\nMust be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.\n\nMust be able to travel to various project sites (often remote) and conduct field investigations independently.\n\nMust be able to work at heights.\n\nMust be able to work in hot and cold environments, both indoors and outdoors.\n\nMust be able to access and work on roofs, scaffolds, lifts, and other elevated surfaces and in enclosed spaces (attics, crawlspaces, etc.) with appropriate personal protection.\n\nMust be able to lift, transport, set up, and utilize an extension ladder to access roofs and other elevated surfaces.\n\nPhysically able to climb, stand, walk, kneel, and crouch for extended periods of time.\n\nAdditional Information\nSome of the Benefits We Have Include\nJ.S.
