Law Student Clerk - Family Law
Job Description
We are seeking a highly-motivated, results-driven law student to join our team who has previous experience working in family law in Missouri and/or Kansas.Position – Law ClerkFull-Time, part-timePay: $20-$23 hourly, commensurate with experienceWork location: In-person at our office in Independence, MO with option for hybrid work after trial period.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Assist attorneys in all aspects of family law cases, including divorce, child custody, and adoptionPrepare/draft legal documents and correspondence, electronic court filing, conduct research and gather informationScheduling depositions where many parties are involvedAnswer phones/email and communicate with clients regarding their cases, schedule appointments, take payments, and other miscellaneous communications with clients, courts, attorneys, and vendorsOrganize and maintain client files using case management systemsPerform data entry tasks accurately and efficientlyProvide general clerical support to the legal teamProofread legal documents for accuracy and completenessMaintain level of integrity and confidentiality when working with clients and potential clientsDay-to-day operationsWhat we're looking for· Previous experience working as a paralegal in family law is required· Currently or soon-to-be 2L or 3L law students eligible for practice under Missouri Supreme Court Rule 13.· Familiarity with Missouri and/or Kansas family law procedures is required· Strong computer proficiency in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), Document Management Systems, e-filing and database software.· Excellent grammar, punctuation, spelling, and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively· Able to work in a fast-paced environment with changing work priorities· Attention to detail and accuracy in all work performed· Ability to work independently with little supervision and as part of a team· Familiarity with court filing procedures and deadlines
