This role works independently with some guidance, applies working and general industry knowledge to support technical documentation development and maintenance, policy writing, and internal/external communications across multiple government work streams.\nJob Description:\nDevelop, write, and edit high quality technical documentation, including system manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), user guides, white papers, training materials, runbooks, and knowledge articles.\nCollaborate with SMEs, engineers, program managers, and compliance teams to gather information and ensure accuracy and clarity.\nTranslate technical concepts into accessible content for both technical and non technical audiences.\nMaintain version control and ensure documentation meets internal quality standards and government mandated requirements.\nReview and revise existing documentation to improve clarity, consistency, and compliance.\nCreate templates, style guides, and documentation standards to support organizational consistency.\nConduct research to ensure content accuracy, including reviewing federal regulations, contract requirements, and technical specifications.\nManage multiple writing projects simultaneously in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.\nWork with technical staff to help document the “as-is” environment.\nJob Requirements:\n5+ years of experience as a technical writer in a government contract environment.\nExperience with using Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and collaborative documentation tools such as Teams or SharePoint.\nKnowledge of Agile, DevSecOps, or ITIL environments.\nExperience running workshops or interviews with technical staff to gather content.\nAbility to operate in ambiguous environments, perform discovery, and propose a structured plan to get from “unknown current state” to a well-documented capability.\nStrong communication skills capable of communicating technical concepts to senior leadership and customer stakeholders.\nAbility to work independently and collaboratively with cross functional teams.\nEducation and Certifications:\nRequired: Active Secret Clearance\nRequired: Security+ (CE)\nDesired: Bachelors Degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Computer Science or a related field\nAdditional Information:\nThis role is located in the Hampton Roads, VA area. Work schedule will be hybrid from employees home, and between client sites located in Suffolk, Chesapeake, and the corporate office in Virginia Beach.\nThe anticipated salary range for this role is $80,000 to $100,000 annually. The anticipated salary range for this position is provided in accordance with applicable pay transparency laws.
