The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.\n\nScope of Role\nImprove existing manufacturing processes, equipment and capabilities\nSupport or lead continuous improvement activities, new materials or process receivership, cost reduction projects, and equipment installs and debug.\n\nSolve material and process issues in production through data analysis, experimentation, and collaboration with subject matter experts\n\nDocument and share material and process knowledge across organizations\n\nDay to Day Responsibilities\nProvide engineering-level production support to manufacturing operation and actively engage in plant safety initiatives and projects.\nSolve process issues through data analysis, experimentation, and collaboration with subject matter experts.\nProvide engineering expertise for fundamental understanding of manufacturing issues.\nLead and/or provide support for projects involving cost reduction, process optimization, and new products.\nDevelop and maintain systems to monitor and proactively address material/equipment/process performance, including trend analysis and implementation plans\nReceive and integrate new technologies to improve process capability while ensuring proper processes are followed during transfer.\n\nLocation, Hours and Travel Requirements\nLocation: Hickory, NC\n\nHours of work/work schedule/flex-time: 8 hours/day; 40 hours/week\n\nTravel: Up to 25% to various manufacturing sites in the division.\nExperiences/Education - Required\n\nBS or MS in the following Engineering Disciplines: Materials, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Ceramic Engineering\n\n2+ years’ experience in Manufacturing Environment.\n\nAbility to multitask and prioritize work on an independent basis in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.\nAbility to work effectively on all levels of an organization\nUse scientific method and engineering principles to solve problems thoroughly and effectively, using well-designed and executed processes\nStrong data analysis and statistical skills.
