You will report to the Assistant Restaurant Manager in our onboard Restaurant, River Café and Room Service.\n\nWHAT YOU’LL DO ON BOARD\n\nWelcome and seat guests, providing them a warm, friendly experience\n\nControl and manage mise en place: setting tables, checking stock, cleaning and polishing equipment, in line with Viking’s service standards\n\nBecome expert in Viking’s FandB menus, presenting guests, suggesting dishes, wine selections, answering questions, with appropriate terminology and pronunciation\n\nRelay orders to the Galley and beverage areas, then serve food promptly\n\nManage and organize your service station, supervising 2 to 4 Assistant Waiters\n\nFollow and diligently implement Viking STAR standards, safety and standard operating procedures, while complying with Public Health Regulations.\n\nPrepare and perform additional FandB activities (i.e. cocktail parties and Teatime) and special events, as assigned.\n\nWilling and able to work 10-12 weeks straight on the ship followed by 3 weeks vacation. (Schedule and rotation may flucuate depending on occupancey and staffing needs)\n\nABOUT YOU\n\n2+ years’ experience as a Waiter or similar at a 5-Star hospitality and/or restaurant environment; shipboard experience is an advantage.\n\nMust be 21+ years old; physically fit and in good health; must be able to carry heavy items and stand, kneel and bend for prolonged periods of time.\n\nGuest-focused, service-oriented, positive personality, professional appearance and impeccable hygiene standards\n\nExcellent knowledge of all public health policies\n\nMANDATORY REQUIREMENTS and AT WILL EMPLOYMENT:\n\nViking covers all travel arrangements and associated transportation costs from the airport to the ship\n\nEmployees must be fully vaccinated against Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Tetanus/Diphtheria, and Hepatitis A and B before their start date.
