This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and executing estimating best practices that align with industry standards and the company’s operational playbook, core values, and key success metrics.\nThe Estimating Manager will play a critical role in supporting and advancing the company culture, with a strong focus on accountability, performance, collaboration, and customer service. The ideal candidate will have extensive construction estimating experience, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to manage the complete bid process from start to finish.\nKey Responsibilities\nCoordinate and interface with owners, project managers, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders during planning, development, negotiation, and contract execution.\nEnsure proper subcontractor coverage is obtained for all bid submissions.\nReview estimator budgets and compile final bid proposals.\nAnalyze labor, material, equipment, location, and other cost factors to produce accurate and timely estimates.\nEvaluate alternative construction methods and value-engineering opportunities to improve bid competitiveness.\nUtilize historical cost data as a basis for estimate validation.\nPerform mathematical calculations and quantity takeoffs to ensure estimate accuracy.\nIdentify project risks and develop mitigation strategies for potential construction obstacles.\nCommunicate bid and estimate information to field operations during pre-construction meetings.\nIndependently complete bids from start to finish with minimal or no oversight.\nUnderstand and evaluate the full scope of work across all applicable trades.\nNegotiate pricing and scope with clients and subcontractors.\nTrain, mentor, review, and support estimating staff.\nAnticipate project challenges and provide practical solutions.\nLead, manage, and hold the estimating team accountable to company standards, deadlines, and performance expectations.\nEstablish bid review procedures and lead estimate review meetings prior to submission.\nCollaborate closely with operations teams to understand project details and the budget implications of operational decisions.\nRequired Skills & Abilities\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\nStrong organizational skills and attention to detail.\nProven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.\nStrong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities.\nAbility to delegate tasks and lead a team effectively.\nAbility to perform in a fast-paced and occasionally high-pressure environment.\nWorking knowledge of construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.\nStrong leadership and team-development skills.\nPatience and willingness to train and mentor others.\nKnowledge of various construction pricing and estimating models.\nUnderstanding of construction practices related to the company’s scopes of work.\nEducation & Experience\nBachelor’s degree or higher in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related construction discipline.\nMinimum 5 years of experience as an Estimator performing responsibilities comparable to those listed above.\nWorking knowledge of construction management principles and processes.\nEffective negotiation and client-management skills.\nPhysical Requirements\nProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.\nMust be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.\nBenefits\nMedical, Dental, and Vision insurance\n401(k) plan after eligibility requirements are met\n2 weeks of paid vacation\n8 paid holidays\nAdditional Information\nThis job description is not intended to be a comprehensive list of all duties, responsibilities, or activities required for the position.
