Medical AssistantFull-time Monday-Thursday, 8:00 am-6:30 pmPosition ResponsibilitiesAssists nurses or providers with procedures and examination procedures as needed.Performs CLIA waived laboratory procedures.Performs specific functions in conjunction with health assessment such as vital signs, weight, height, etc.Assists in maintaining stock for examining rooms/lab and general maintenance of examining rooms/lab.Serves as a patient educator by providing information on specific health care issues.Documents accurately in the medical record.Participate in the Health Disparities Collaborative by collecting data, educating patients, and maintaining adequate documentationInterview patients to obtain medical informationShow patients to examination rooms and prepare them for provider.Prepare and administer medications as directed by the physicianCollect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testingExplain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physicians' instructions to patientsPrepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and cleanEducationHigh School diploma or equivalent.Professional license/Specialized training, One-year certificate from college or technical schoolCompletion of formal training program as a medical assistant.Certificates and LicensesCurrent and valid Florida medical assistant certification.Current Basic Life Support Certification
