Heit, has been acknowledged as a national leader in developing and managing innovative programs for youth and families with profound challenges. He served two terms as President of Therapeutic Communities of America, was appointed by President George H.W. Bush to a Presidential Commission for Model State Drug Laws and served on President Bill Clinton’s behavioral health subcommittee for health care reform. He has developed and managed a broad continuum of residential and outpatient services throughout Pennsylvania and in six other states.\n\nSince inception, JusticeWorks has been committed to delivering on its promises to its county partners by conducting outcome evaluations of its work. Our programs have conclusively demonstrated their ability to provide intensive community based services that positively resolve critical situations with youth and their families while reducing overall costs to public sector agencies. Outcome evaluations for all of our programs, and a summary Report Card, are available on our website: www.justiceworksyouthcare.com\n\nIntern Summary:\n\nThe JW internship program is designed to give students an introduction to community base care with emphasis on Child Welfare and Juvenile Justice. This internship will expose students to key areas of practice in Child Welfare and Juvenile Justice career field. This opportunity will refine, reinforce, and apply concepts and skills learned during their education. Interns will benefit from experiences that teach him/her about social work, work force culture, evidenced based practices, court, child welfare, juvenile justice, as well as preparation to obtain future employment in community based programming.\n\nThis experience gives interns:\nAn opportunity to observe in a controlled environment in multiple practice areas\nStructured and monitored supervision\nExposure to evidenced based practices\nComprehension of Data Management Programs\nOutcome and Output reporting\nSpecific training needed for community based care\nAn educational platform for learning ethical decision making\nExposure to the management and administrative skills required to manage on a variety of platforms.\nAn opportunity to develop an initial career plan and practice in a multidisciplinary setting\nShadow staff and gain first hand experiential knowledge.\n\nInternship Skills & Style:\nMust have good verbal/ written communication skills and works well with people; highly organized; good, creative problem solving skills; ability to work independently, and be flexible/ adaptive in handling changing priorities in a fast paced environment; computer/ internet skills a must.
