The ideal candidate will learn about scientists' processes and needs, analytic methods, and design and develop solutions to address gaps, and implement solutions in collaboration with scientists, lab automation/data specialists, data scientists, and information technology specialists. It is essential that the candidate possess excellent listening and problem-solving skills, communicates effectively, is change agile, and can work both within a team and individually to deliver on objectives related to data capture, storage, retrieval, analysis, integration, and visualization. Candidate must be self-motivated and provide fast, proof-of- concept turnaround on project MVPs. Responsibilities • Collaborate with scientists to identify data processing and retrieval gaps and implement best solutions for data capture, storage and retrieval, integration, analysis, and visualization, incorporating FAIR data practices. • Rapidly design and develop high-quality, reliable, and scalable applications within tight deadlines to solve highly targeted needs of scientists, including data capture to new or existing computational pipelines, performing analyses and transformations, providing visualizations, and connecting with advanced statistical and machine learning analytics. Test and debug applications to ensure optimal performance and functionality. • Partner with internal technology groups to understand available tools, platforms, internal packages, and recommended tech stack to apply. • Update and augment existing applications as necessary. • Continuously research and learn evolving best practice technologies and industry trends to improve application development processes. • Create and maintain project documentation and maintain code with GitHub. • Candidate is expected to work full-time, 40 hours per week, in a US time zone. Education and Experience: • Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years' experience as a full-stack developer. • Biological or experimental sciences experience a must, either through education or previous project experience. Mathematics and analytics experience preferred. • Proven experience developing rapid, small to medium, proof of concept applications for scientists. • Proficiency in Python and Git / GitHub a must, experience in R or Java preferred. • Experience with building web-based front ends using languages such as Streamlit, React, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and R Shiny, • Linux programming a must. Experience with high-performance cluster computing, and pipelining tools such as Snakemake or Dagster preferred. • Experience deploying solutions with containers such as docker, Singularity, or Kubernetes • Experience with database design and management, such as SQL, Oracle, NoSQL, or Neo4j • Familiarity with data science, analytic and visualization tools, such as Tableau, Spotfire, or PowerBI preferred. • Knowledge of software development best practices, including version control and continuous integration • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively in a fast-paced, innovative environment sometimes requiring frequent project transitions. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to explain complex ideas to audiences without a technical background.
