Contribute to significant application modernization initiatives and collaborate with business analysts to translate technical functionality into clear functional requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesAnalyze existing Java applications to understand business logic, workflows, and system behavior.Review source code (Spring, Java EE, or legacy frameworks) to identify business rules, data flows, and integration points.Collaborate with Business Analysts to explain technical functionality in business terms and validate requirements against existing system behavior.Document findings, including functional specifications, process flows, data mappings, and technical design documents.Support application modernization efforts by identifying reusable logic and dependencies.Assist in troubleshooting and clarifying system behavior during testing phases.Participate in discussions with architects, developers, and stakeholders to ensure accurate understanding of current systems.Analyze bridging from legacy apps using Struts, EJB, or other Java EE design patterns, and from newer apps using Spring.RequirementsGraduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in computer science or related field.At least four years of experience in software development using Java.Proficiency in Core Java, Spring/Spring Boot, REST APIs, Struts, EJB, and other Java EE design patterns.Experience with SQL databases (Oracle, SQL Server, or similar) and version control systems (Git).Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Meticulous attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality work in a dynamic environment.Availability for some nights and weekends for supporting code deployments and application support.PreferencesExperience in using GoAnywhere – secure file transfer software.Proficiency in databases and MSSQL.Experience specifically with Azure DevOps and broadly distributed version control.Experience in application modernization or migration projects.Experience in regulated industries (e.g., Oil & Gas, Healthcare, Government).Familiarity with Unix/Linux and Bourne/Korn shell scripting.Knowledge of service-oriented architecture (SOA) concepts and microservices.Experience with the creation and manipulation of .PDF documents or experience with iText.Ready to make a difference and advance your career?
