Payroll Specialist
About the Role
Brenner LLP is seeking a skilled Payroll Specialist who brings accuracy, organization, and confidence to one of the most detail-sensitive areas of client service. In this role, you'll manage end-to-end payroll processing for multiple clients, navigate complex state and federal regulations, and serve as a reliable point of contact for questions and issue resolution. This position is ideal for someone who values precision, takes ownership of their work, and thrives in a collaborative firm where payroll is treated as a vital service—not an afterthought.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and monitor payroll activities for multiple clients
Collaborate with partners to execute and reconcile pay data and benefits
Address payroll notices and corrections with internal and external partners
Resolve payroll issues reported by stakeholders
Prepare reports and develop procedures to comply with regulations
Document regulatory updates affecting payroll processesIdentify and improve process gaps within the team
Process terminations and final paychecks
Manage third-party wage requests and information reports
Qualifications
7+ years of high-volume payroll processing experience
Experience with filing payroll reports (original, amended, quarterly, annual, federal, state)
Familiarity with multi-state payrolls, particularly OR and CA
Strong understanding of Oregon payroll tax regulations
Experience in benefit management through payroll
Experience with garnishments
Experience with SAIF and 401(k) census reports
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Exceptional attention to detail
Proficient in software for data extraction and analysis
Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
Effective communication skills
Advanced MS Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP)
Experience with ADP, QBO Payroll, and Gusto preferred
CPP or Payroll Certification preferred
