The Molecular Technologist I is responsible for performing moderate and high complexity clinical sample testing within the Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory. Performs daily laboratory testing and analyzes, reviews, and reports test results.\nLocation: Austin, TX 78728\nDays: Tuesday - Saturday\nHours: 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM CST\nFull-time: Benefit Eligible\nDuties & Responsibilities:\nPerforms high complexity clinical assays according to written SOPs\nAdheres to departmental policies and procedures to include quality control, quality assurance, and safety\nEnsures specimen integrity by adhering to the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing.\nGeneral laboratory operations: keeping a neat work area, attending meetings, and complying with laboratory procedures and safety practices\nAnalyzes reviews, and reports test and quality control results and takes remedial action when indicated\nEnters and verifies data within the clinical LIMS system\nMaintain analytical instruments, schedules authorized routine service, and maintains instrument documentation\nPerforms, enters, and maintains Quality Control assessments and data\nGeneral laboratory housekeeping, including the regular cleaning of sinks, counters, and equipment as appropriate\nCreates and validates in-house control material and reagents\nCompletes other duties as assigned by lab management\nMonitors laboratory data systems, conducts statistical metric analysis\nPerforms and documents reagent Quality Control verification\nFile documentation associated with daily production runs\nProvides technical feedback to the Lab Supervisor regarding workflow issues\nMake copies of relative forms used for production and validation\nDocuments laboratory inventory for assigned work areas\nPerform other laboratory duties as required and assigned\nEducation and Experience:\nEducation:\nB.S. degree in Medical Technology or Chemical, Biological, or Physical Science\nExperience:\nN/A\nLicensure and Certifications:\nRequired\nN/A\nPreferred\nCertified as Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, or Molecular Biology by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) OR equivalent certification AND one year of pertinent laboratory experience OR professional laboratory certification\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:\nUnderstands and follows written procedures and verbal instructions\nGood dexterity with manual and automated pipettes\nExcellent attention to detail and ability to collect and analyze data using graphs, tables, charts, and mathematical calculations\nBasic computer knowledge including MS Excel and Word\nAbility to communicate effectively at all levels within the laboratory and work well across lab areas\nAbility to work with frequent interruptions and fluctuations in workload\nAbility to handle multiple priorities and manage stress appropriately\nAbility to work alone with minimal supervision\nScheduled Weekly Hours:\n40\nWork Shift:\n2nd Shift (United States of America)\nJob Category:\nLaboratory Operations\nCompany:\nSonic Reference Laboratory, Inc\nSonic Healthcare USA is an equal opportunity employer that celebrates diversity and is committed to an inclusive workplace for all employees.
