This role can be based remotely anywhere in the United States.SummaryWe are seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to maintain and secure the infrastructure supporting a distributed technology environment. This role will manage Linux-based servers, Apache web servers, networks, endpoints, and security controls while supporting SOC 2 compliance and overall system reliability. The position will also provide end-user technical support, provision laptops, and recommend infrastructure improvements.ResponsibilitiesAdminister, maintain, patch, and optimize Linux-based server environments and Apache web servers, ensuring system availability and performance.Manage user accounts, RBAC permissions, SSH keys, DNS, SSL/TLS certificates, VPNs, networks, and other access controls.Monitor infrastructure performance, troubleshoot system issues, perform diagnostic testing, and implement measures to maximize uptime.Maintain infrastructure security through vulnerability remediation, Apache ModSecurity, Imunify360, OWASP Top 10/CVE mitigation, and established cybersecurity controls.Support CI/CD pipelines, system integrations, MySQL databases, and Linux command-line scripting within the application environment.Contribute to SOC 2 compliance efforts, including security controls, documentation, data backup/archiving, and ongoing compliance activities.Manage endpoints and provision company laptops while providing technical support to internal users.Evaluate and recommend technology products, services, and infrastructure improvements while maintaining current knowledge of IT administration and security practices.Required Skills5+ years of professional experience provisioning, maintaining, patching, and operating Linux-based server systems and Apache web servers.Hands-on experience with SSH key management, RBAC, DNS, SSL/TLS, CI/CD pipelines, network/VPN management, endpoint management, and infrastructure monitoring.Experience with Apache ModSecurity, Imunify360, vulnerability patching, OWASP Top 10/CVEs, MySQL, Linux command-line scripting, PHP, and SOC 2 compliance.Experience troubleshooting systems, performing diagnostic testing, managing backups and archives, documenting processes, and working with ticketing/ITSM platforms.Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional technical environment and independently manage complex infrastructure responsibilities.Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.Preferred experience with WHM/cPanel, Git/GitHub, GRC processes, SIEM, WAF/firewall security with WordPress, AWS Cloud Practitioner concepts, endpoint antivirus management, PowerShell, and data retrieval/recovery procedures.Additional preferred experience with Mac, Windows, and Linux distributions including AlmaLinux, Red Hat, Ubuntu, CentOS, and Debian; Apache2 re-platforming, IT projects, refactoring, and DevSecOps scripting using Groovy/Jenkins.H1 sponsorship is not available.PeerSource is a nationwide technology recruiting firm that prioritizes building strong relationships with the talented professionals we are fortunate to serve.
