This role supports the development and operation of cloud-hosted services, Databricks-enabled analytics environments, AI delivery platforms, and enterprise Data-as-a-Service capabilities. The Cloud Engineer works closely with program leadership, federal stakeholders, architects, engineers, developers, and data teams to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient solutions that align with customer and Federal cybersecurity requirements.\n\nResponsibilities and Duties\n\nDesign, develop, deploy, and maintain cloud-native software applications, APIs, data services, and enterprise solutions supporting mission requirements.\nServe as the senior technical lead for software and database development activities supporting cloud modernization and AI-enabled service delivery initiatives.\nArchitect and develop applications utilizing modern cloud-native design patterns, microservices, serverless computing, and containerized deployments.\nDesign, build, and maintain scalable Databricks solutions utilizing Delta Lake, Workflows, Structured Streaming, SQL Warehouses, and Unity Catalog.\nDevelop and optimize enterprise data pipelines supporting data ingestion, transformation, analytics, machine learning, and reporting capabilities.\nDesign and maintain robust relational and NoSQL database solutions supporting operational and analytical workloads.\nDevelop secure REST APIs, web services, and application integrations supporting enterprise data exchange and interoperability requirements.\nImplement and optimize cloud-hosted solutions using AWS services including Lambda, S3, IAM, KMS, CloudWatch, Glue, ECS, EKS, Step Functions, and related services.\nSupport integration of AI, machine learning, and agentic AI capabilities into enterprise applications and data platforms.\nDesign and implement CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, infrastructure automation, and deployment workflows.\nCollaborate with product owners, architects, developers, and federal stakeholders to define technical requirements and solution designs.\nSupport Agile software development activities including sprint planning, backlog refinement, solution demonstrations, and iterative delivery.\nDevelop secure software solutions in accordance with Zero Trust architecture principles and secure software development practices.\nPerform software testing, integration testing, performance testing, and production validation activities.\nOptimize database performance, query execution, indexing strategies, and storage architectures.\nDevelop technical documentation including architecture diagrams, design specifications, interface control documents, and operational procedures.\nSupport application modernization initiatives, including migration of legacy systems and services to cloud-native environments.\nCollaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement security controls, vulnerability remediation, encryption, authentication, and authorization requirements.\nSupport operational monitoring, incident response, troubleshooting, and problem resolution activities.\nEvaluate emerging technologies and provide recommendations for improving platform performance, scalability, automation, and mission delivery.\nProvide technical leadership and mentoring to development teams and support knowledge transfer across project resources.\nSupport compliance with customer, NIST, FISMA, and organizational security and privacy requirements.\n\nBasic Qualifications\n\nBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.\nSeven (7) or more years of experience in software development, database engineering, full-stack development, or cloud engineering supporting enterprise environments.\nFifteen (15) years of relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.\nDemonstrated experience developing cloud-native applications using Python, SQL, Spark, REST APIs, and microservices architectures.\nHands-on experience developing, administering, and optimizing Databricks environments, including Workflows, Delta Lake, Structured Streaming, SQL Warehouses, and Unity Catalog.\nExperience designing, implementing, and maintaining relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, Aurora, DynamoDB, or equivalent platforms.\nExperience developing and supporting AWS cloud solutions and services.\nExperience implementing CI/CD pipelines, Git-based development workflows, automated testing, and deployment automation.\nExperience supporting application modernization, system integration, and secure software development within enterprise environments.\nExperience working in Agile software development environments utilizing iterative delivery methodologies.\nExperience supporting AI, machine learning, MLOps, AI engineering, or agentic AI-enabled application development initiatives.\nStrong
