They are in 30+ states and 3 countries, providing their clients with the analysis, assessments, strategy, and remediation capabilities required to protect an entity’s most vital assets.Our client’s expertise includes combining mission assurance and risk management solutions within critical infrastructure protection and industrial cybersecurity to protect our country’s personnel, facilities, and networks.With the corporate HQ located in Arlington, VA, this firm possesses a TS Facilities Clearance, has built strong partnerships across industry with brand name firms and provides both federal and commercial distinguished offerings throughout a range of contract vehicles.As a 200-person company, 35% of their workforce are military veterans. One of their core tenets is their compelling and cohesive culture and passion for the mission both CONUS and OCONUS. Additionally, their employee turnover rate is in the single digits, which is an uncharacteristically low rate across the industry.Mission Statement for this Role:As a strategic CGO, you will drive the vision and execution forBusiness Development, Capture, and Growth functions across the company. As a vital component of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), reporting to the CEO, you will be tasked with assessing and building out the company’s BD vision by capturing large full and open contracts to push this firm from a $50M revenue business to a $100M+ business over the next few years.Key Measurable Outcomes for this Role:At the onset of employment, complete a 90-day assessment of our client’s Business Development strategy, pipeline and existing team.Develop a realistic vision of where the company stands and where they need to go within the BD function based on core capabilities and goals.You will then assess and build a meaningful pipeline by continuously assessing new administration and market trends, competitor activities, and procurement methodologies to inform and guide nuanced growth strategies.Core Responsibilities and Qualifications for this Role:Strategic Leadership & Growth Expectations:Guide strategic planning and execution for expansion into new and existing Federal markets by aligning all growth efforts with corporate objectives, setting long-term growth goals, metrics, and campaign plans that are agreed upon and achievable.Develop and present a credible 18-24 month growth strategy initiative to the ELT and investors.Employ a strategic mindset across the firm to influence organizational growth and drive decision-making. Regularly reassess strategies and adjust as necessary to mitigate identified risks and sustain long-term growth for the organization.Assist in identifying and evaluating potential acquisition targets that strengthen capabilities and increase market valuation.Evaluate and build a cohesive organization with clear roles, responsibilities, and KPI’s. Provide training, mentorship, and professional development to enhance BD, capture, and proposal skills.Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.Identify and manage relationships with prime contractors, subcontractors, integrators, and industry partners. Engage with all to remain ahead of emerging technologies and procurement models.Business Development & Capture Management Expectations:Identify, qualify, and win large ($50-100M+) Federal opportunities through shaping, solutioning, and tactical positioning.Develop and execute comprehensive sales/BD strategies aligned with corporate goals.Oversee all BD and Capture activities, including pipeline forecasting, closing deals, and delivering results aligned with company values.Develop and maintain a deep understanding of all contract types (FFP, T&M, cost-plus), multi-award vehicles, price-to-win strategies, and business models (JVs, mentor-protégé, SBIRs).Pricing and Contract Strategy Expectations:Ensure adherence to all government regulations, security classifications, and procurement guidelines (FAR/DFARS).Help to refine and develop competitive pricing models with the team and lead negotiations to secure favorable terms and long-term value in contracts. Uphold ethical and transparent practices across all activities.Process Improvement & Innovation Expectations:Establish annual growth metrics with the ELT and track progress, optimizing investments and measuring ROI. Refine capture management, proposal development, and pipeline tracking across the enterprise.Adopt analytics platforms for forecasting and resource allocation. Encourage best practices, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning.Culture Character Expectations:Leadership. Metro region. Proximity to the customer base within the Federal Government ecosystem is essential.
