Install Technicians are responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and support of low-voltage technology systems, including structured cabling, audiovisual solutions, access control systems, video surveillance systems, and related infrastructure.\n\nStructured Cabling\n\nInstall, terminate, label, and test network cabling including Cat5e, Cat6, shielded cable, fiber optic, coaxial, riser, and multi-pair cabling.\nInstall patch panels, punch-down blocks, telecommunications closets, racks, cabinets, and pathway systems.\nPerform cable certification testing and documentation.\nInterpret CAD drawings and construction documents.\nAdhere to BICSI, EIA, and TIA industry standards.\n\nAudio Visual Systems\n\nInstall and test AV and network cabling for audiovisual systems.\nInstall displays, TVs, projectors, projection screens, speakers, amplifiers, microphones, conferencing equipment, and related AV technologies.\nAssemble and install mounting hardware and support structures.\nPerform basic configuration and testing of AV devices.\nInterpret AV design drawings and adhere to AVIXA standards.\n\nSecurity Systems\n\nInstall, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair IP-based access control, CCTV, video management systems (VMS), intrusion detection systems, intercoms, and related equipment.\nInstall cameras, card readers, electric strikes, mag locks, door contacts, REX devices, power supplies, door controllers, UPS systems, and associated hardware.\nAdd and configure cameras, readers, users, and controllers within supported systems.\nPerform preventive maintenance and system inspections.\nConduct commissioning, testing, and turnover activities.\nAssist with permit inspections and site reporting requirements.\n\nGeneral Responsibilities\n\nCoordinate daily project activities with project managers, supervisors, and team members.\nTroubleshoot and resolve technical challenges in the field.\nMaintain accurate project documentation, reports, and testing records.\nCommunicate effectively with customers, contractors, and internal teams.\nComplete daily safety requirements, including Job Safety Analysis (JSA) documentation.\nFollow company safety policies and customer-specific safety programs.\nAssist with in-house system assembly, testing, and staging activities.\nMaintain a professional appearance and positive customer experience.\n\nWho You Are\n\nRequired Qualifications\n\nHigh School Diploma or GED.\n2+ years of experience in commercial low-voltage installations, structured cabling, AV systems, security systems, or related technologies.\nExperience installing and terminating network cabling including Cat5e, Cat6, fiber, and coaxial cable.\nBasic understanding of IP networking and low-voltage systems.\nExperience reading blueprints, CAD drawings, and construction documents.\nAbility to use testing and troubleshooting equipment.\nStrong communication and teamwork skills.\nSound judgment and ability to work independently.\nValid Driver's License; Clean driving record; Reliable transportation.\nAbility to pass background checks and drug screening.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nExperience with access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and intercom systems.\nExperience with audiovisual installations and conference room technologies.\nExperience with telecommunications closet buildouts and rack installations.\nTexas DPS Security Installer License or ability to obtain.\nTrade school training or associate degree in electronics or a related field.\nManufacturer certifications in access control, surveillance, or AV technologies.\nBICSI, AVIXA CTS, OSHA 10, or OSHA 30 certifications.\nExperience with Genetec, Axis, Bosch, HID, Sony, or similar platforms.\n\nPhysical Demands:\n\nWork involves standing, talking, hearing, using hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reaching with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk, sit, climb, balance, stand, stoop, kneel, drive and reach. Skill in operation of some of the listed tools and equipment; and ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time. The employee must frequently push, pull, lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally push, pull, lift and/or carry up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.\n\nWork Environment:\n\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in inclement weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.
