Job DescriptionFriends of New Milford, Inc. is looking for that ideal candidate to assist adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This position entails one-to-one, in-home and community support for a 50+ year old male with autism and IDD. Their needs include assistance in de-escalation/prevention of stressful events, while providing guidance in completing household chores, hygiene and outings in the community. Ideal candidates will possess qualities such as attentiveness, empathy, patience, effective planning and the desire to learn.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Maintain daily communication with team members. Daily logging of program notes; both electronic and physical documentation. Develop positive relationships with clients, their family members/guardians. Assist in the completion of daily tasks such as personal hygiene, meal prep, laundry, dressing appropriately as well as facilitating social skills. Possess leadership qualities in navigating clients through their day. Must have reliable transportation. Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check. Must work scheduled hours as outlined at interview. Pay rate dependent on experience and applicable certifications.
