Dennis Group is a design build engineering firm and general contractor that designs and builds food and beverage processing facilities. As such, our packaging engineers are involved with defining packaging equipment project requirements, estimating packaging equipment costs, creating packaging flow diagrams, providing onsite construction support, and start-up and commissioning the packaging equipment. As a Packaging Engineer, your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:\nResponsibilities\nDesign:\nCreate basis of design and scope of work documents\nDevelop design concepts\nDevelop functional specifications for packaging lines\nWork with sanitary design concepts for liquid, powder, and shaped products\nCreate AutoCAD equipment layouts\nInterpret mechanical design requirements and customer specifications\nReview and approve vendor shop drawings and discipline coordination drawings\nEngineering:\nBe a subject matter expert in at least one packaging area\nManage multiple projects\nCreate packaging flow diagrams, material balance, packaging matrix, equipment specifications, OEE documents, speed matrix and V- Curve\nDevelop project budgets\nCreate and follow up with equipment bid packages\nDevelop and maintain delivery and installation schedule\nUnderstand size and placement of support equipment\nProvide expertise in manufacturing and packaging design principles\nDesign systems including conveyance, wrapping, bagging, cartoning, filling, bottling, case packing and palletizing\nAssist in process simulation\nDevelop project specific procurement documents for packaging equipment\nAssist with machine and process design\nPreparation of machine testing requirements and procedures\nSite work:\nSurvey existing conditions\nOn-site construction project coordination\nManage installation and commissioning of packaging equipment\nManage equipment vendors and installation crews\nLead and/or participate in presentations at client meetings\nLead factory acceptance testing at vendors shop\nLead a team including coaching and mentoring of employees\nBe the client contact and lead engineer on multiple projects\nMust have led a project team that installed a packaging system with components including conveyance, wrapping, bagging, cartoning, filling, bottling, case packing or palletizing\nDepartmental growth:\nContinual research of packaging engineering best practices\nRequired Education Skills and Experience\nBachelor’s degree in mechanical, packaging, industrial, or manufacturing engineering\n8-11 years of work experience in related field\nMust have multiple large project experience in project definition, equipment design/layout, process design, equipment design, machine testing procedures, installation and commissioning of equipment\nExperience working for food and beverage manufacturing or food and beverage design firms is required.\nProficiency with MS Office, MS Project, and AutoCAD\nExcellent oral and written communication skills\nIntellectual curiosity and a positive, can-do, team-oriented attitude\nStrong problem solving, organizing, and time management skills\nMust meet Travel Requirement - On-site construction project coordination and management with travel requirements between 50%-70% of the year\nPhysical Requirements\nProlonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.\nMust be able to lift-up to 15 pounds at times.\nTravel Requirement\n50%-70% travel required throughout the year to visit project site and other offices.\nAbout Us\nWe plan, design, engineer, and build food plants for major brands across the country and the world.
