As we continue to scale, we are seeking a dedicated, hands-on Controller to join our Finance & Operations department.\n\nJob Overview\nAs the Controller, you will be deeply embedded in daily operations, serving as the financial partner to our firm leadership. You won't just oversee accounting; you will be the architect of our financial organization—cleaning up historical records, establishing robust internal controls, and aligning our financial processes with operational workflows to support firm growth.\n\nKey Responsibilities\nFinancial Operations & Trust Accounting\nTrust & Operating Reconciliation: Oversee monthly reconciliation of trust and operating accounts, ensuring strict compliance with IOLTA requirements and audit-ready records.\nCleanup & Accuracy: Review and organize financial records to identify and correct discrepancies in bookkeeping, payroll, and expense tracking.\nA/R & A/P Management: Systemize accounts payable workflows and lead the charge in bringing accounts receivable current by improving tracking and follow-up processes.\nStrategy, Budgeting & Reporting\nActionable Insights: Translate complex financial data into clear reports and recommendations for partners and operations leadership.\nForecasting: Assist leadership with budgeting and cash flow forecasting to identify trends and support operational decision-making.\nProcess Improvement & Integration\nSOP Development: Establish and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for billing, collections, and month-end closing to ensure scalability.\nSystems Optimization: Manage accounting via QuickBooks Online and support the integration of financial data with our case management software.\n\nQualifications\nRequired:\nExperience: 5+ years of experience in accounting or financial management (Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar).\nTechnical Skills: High proficiency in QuickBooks Online and a strong understanding of general ledger and financial reporting.\nMindset: A hands-on, execution-focused professional who thrives in fast-moving or transitional environments.\nLocation: Ability to work in-office at one of our specified locations.\nPreferred:\nLegal Industry: Prior experience with law firm trust accounting and client fund management.\nSystems Thinker: Proven track record of improving A/R and A/P systems in a growing business environment.\n\nWhy Rivas & Associates?\nWe offer a collaborative, fast-paced environment where your ideas matter and your work has purpose.
