The successful candidate will work in a state-of-the-art research and development laboratory, conducting experiments and analyzing data related to fiber technology. This is a hands-on position that requires an individual with excellent attention to detail, strong technical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.\r\nJob Details\r\nPay: $65 - $75 Annual Salary based on experience\r\nHours/Schedule: Monday – Friday 7:00am – 4:00pm. Potential OT if necessary\r\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\r\nWork in a cross functional team to develop new applications for existing materials\r\nSupport efforts to develop new materials\r\nCompile raw trial data and generate reports suitable for presentation to project engineers, management, and outside customers\r\nAnalyze and improve existing processes using data-driven practices\r\nUtilize knowledge of textile products, materials, production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards to drive change\r\nEnhance current manufacturing methods using existing or new equipment to ensure repeatability and conformance to customer specifications. Utilize technology tools to create and update drawings and models supporting computer controlled cutting equipment and 3D printing\r\nEvaluate equipment and processes for repeatability and make improvements as necessary\r\nDevelop processes for manufacturing products using Lean, Six Sigma, and/or statistics-based methods and principles for process excellence\r\nMonitor and audit the performance of processes and equipment and make recommendations for continuous improvement to maximize process capability\r\nWork with vendors and internal resources to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase and installation of equipment, materials or parts for new products\r\nInvestigate, recommend and justify new technologies, manufacturing methods and equipment to meet competitive business needs and improve efficiencies\r\nInteract with Product Development to ensure manufacturability or minimize the risks associated with new products transferred for Commercialization\r\nCreate and revise documents such as Preventative Maintenance, Work Instructions and Internal Specifications for current manufacturing standards\r\nFoster a high level of creativity and independence in the design and development of new or improved manufacturing processes, systems, prototypes and projects\r\nJob Qualifications\r\nAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in a related scientific field (e.g. polymer, materials science, chemical, textile engineering) or equivalent experience\r\nStrong technical skills and experience in laboratory research and development, preferably related to fiber technology\r\nExcellent attention to detail and ability to analyze and interpret data\r\nAbility to work effectively in a team environment\r\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills\r\nStrong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills\r\nAbility to manage multiple projects and priorities\r\nPhysical/Environmental Requirements\r\nLift up to 50 pounds. Climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repetitively and unassisted. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, peripheral and depth vision and ability to adjust focus. Operate moving equipment. Work in hot/cold/damp/cramped/dusty/noisy environments.
