The 2nd Shift Flexo Press Operator is responsible for setting up and operating the printing press to produce labels and related products. This position offers onsite training and the opportunity to learn a valuable skilled trade in the printing industry. Employees will have unlimited growth potential and the chance to continuously advance your career. Previous printing experience in a manufacturing setting is a huge plus. This position reports to the Production Manager.\nPay Rate: $24.00-$34.50 /hour for an Experienced Flexo Press Operator\nSchedule: 2nd shift - Monday-Thursday, 2:30pm-1:00am with occasional overtime\nResponsibilities:\nReads job order and loads dies into press, installs print cylinder on shaft and installs print cylinder in press.\nFills ink pans, screens and pumps with prescribed inks.\nStarts press, adjusting speed and alignment of stock to the print cylinder as necessary\nEngages print cylinders; adjusts printing impression as necessary, places print cylinders lead-to-lead and runs down approval strip\nCuts sample of approval strip from printed roll, inspects for imperfections such as print to print out of register, print to die out of register, missing impression, ink starvation or color adjustments, making adjustments as necessary\nCleans plates, print cylinders and dies as needed, performs daily, weekly and monthly maintenance as required\nMixes inks to produce and maintain desired colors and viscosity\nKeeps work areas clear and organized; maintains housekeeping standards\nKey Characteristics That We Are Looking For:\nMechanical Aptitude: Able to understand and apply mechanical concepts effectively, has solid and sound knowledge of equipment, tools, programs, and systems, follows safety protocols and procedures, and works confidently and safely in a manufacturing setting\nTeamwork and Cooperation: Acts as a team player that balances team and individual responsibilities; Exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views; Gives and welcomes feedback; Contributes to building a positive team spirit; Puts success of team above own interests; Able to build morale and group commitments to goals and objectives; Supports everyone's efforts to succeed.\nProblem Solving: Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner, gathers and analyzes information, develops alternative solutions, and uses reason when handling a variety of situations\nAbility to multitask: Able to complete multiple tasks effectively at once in a safe and productive manner\nStrong work ethic, willingness to learn, and positive attitude\n\nQualifications:\n\nHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED); and a minimum of three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience\nAt least 1 year of narrow-web Flexo printing experience required\nFlexo press, narrow-web printing, flexible packaging, screen printing, and/or label printing/packaging experience, preferred\nMulti-color printing experience\nExperience with color matching, die cutting, plate mounting, and conducting changeovers\nAbility to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals\nMust be able to read and interpret ruler, scales and other measurement devices\nSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus\nWork Environment:\nThe work environment characteristics described are representative of those that an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
