This role will help shape the embedded platforms that power our Marine products for which performance, reliability, and innovation matter. In this role, you’ll combine deep embedded Linux expertise, system architecture, and technical leadership to deliver solutions that perform flawlessly.\nResponsibilities:\nEssential Functions\nProvide technical leadership and architectural direction across marine product platforms and embedded systems\nServe as a Lead Software Engineer on major initiatives, especially those involving new technologies or expanding marine capabilities\nDrive designs that balance performance, reliability, and security in embedded environments\nCommonize software technologies used across a wide range of embedded product\nResponsible for providing key technical contributions for major new products and/or applications including software development in C, C++\nMentor and provide guidance to less experienced software engineers (Software Engineer 1 & 2 & Senior Software Engineers)\nWork with software vendors to integrate externally developed deliverables into projects, as required\nEvaluate new technologies, features and functions and offer suggestions\nOffer process improvement suggestions and author new procedures as appropriate\nApply extensive technical expertise and analysis to all assigned projects and resolve complex problems\nProvide significant contribution to software reviews across multiple product and/or application types\nQualifications:\nBasic Qualifications\nBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Math, Physics or related field AND a minimum of 9 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience\nDemonstrated experience in serving as the lead software engineer for projects in new markets or relying heavily on new technologies\nDemonstrated experience with architecting solutions for multiple groups and/or disciplines\nDemonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills\nMust be positive, detail oriented, organized, team oriented and a driven problem solver, multi-tasker, and self-starter with the ability to prioritize and lead in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment\nDesired Qualifications\nOutstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)\nDemonstrated experience in configuring and building custom Linux distributions with the Yocto Project\nDemonstrated knowledge of Linux services and inter-process communications\nProficiency in python and shell scripts\n\nGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
