The Denver region is humming and in need of a mid–senior level civil engineer capable of managing projects, client relationships, and technical execution with minimal oversight.\n\nROLE OVERVIEW\nThis is a 1099 contract role providing a full workload opportunity within the Denver Metro region (Colorado Springs to Fort Collins).\n\nTHE CIVIL PROJECT ENGINEER WILL:\n\nExecute civil engineering projects within the Colorado Civil Team\n\nProject Manage individual projects and client relationships independently\n\nAccept projects generated through Level’s marketing efforts\n\nNetwork to build relationships for your own project referral pipeline\n\nDevelop and maintain a personal referral-based project pipeline\n\nDay‑to‑day work is remote, with local presence required for site visits, meetings, and municipal coordination.\n\nCORE RESPONSIBILITIES\n\nPerform civil engineering design and analysis for:\n\nLand development\n\nRoadways, bridges, and trails\n\nDrainage and grading\n\nWater and wastewater systems\n\nMunicipal and on‑call projects\n\nPrepare design documents, technical reports, and calculations\n\nCoordinate with surveyors, geotechnical consultants, and internal teams\n\nCommunicate directly with clients, municipalities, and stakeholders\n\nEnsure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations\n\nSupport quality control and project delivery schedules\n\nEngineers/Architects who experience the highest success of their individual practice, contribute to business development through relationship‑building and referrals over time.\n\nQUALIFICATIONS\nRequired:\n\nBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering\n\n6+ years of civil engineering experience with increasing responsibility\n\nStrong civil design background (land development and/or municipal)\n\nProficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D\n\nExperience coordinating consultants and project partners\n\nAbility to manage projects independently and meet deadlines\n\nStrong written and verbal communication skills\n\nAuthorized to work in the United States (no sponsorship)\n\nPreferred:\n\nProfessional Engineer (PE) license or on active licensure track\n\nExperience with stormwater management and grading design\n\nFamiliarity with municipal permitting and review processes\n\nPrior experience working directly with clients and other stakeholders\n\nWHAT LEVEL PROVIDES\n\nInbound project opportunities through regional marketing\n\nProfessional liability (E&O) insurance coverage\n\nProfessional engineering skills development through mentorship\n\nProposal, invoicing, and administrative support systems\n\nTechnical collaboration within the Colorado Civil Team\n\nAccess to a company network of civil, structural, MEP, forensic engineers and architects\n\nWeekly regional and national coordination calls\n\nCOMPENSATION & STRUCTURE\n\nContract role (1099)\n\nUncapped earning potential\n\nTypical annual earnings range: $75,000 – $175,000+ depending on workload and project volume\n\nABOUT LEVEL ENGINEERING & ARCHITECTURE\nLevel Engineering & Architecture is the only Certified B Corporation A/E firm in the United States.
