The Fountain Group is a national staffing firm and we are currently seeking a Product Safety Specialist for a prominent client of ours. This position is in South Portland, ME 04106. Details for the position are as follows:Product Safety SpecialistLocation: South Portland, ME (Onsite)Duration: 6 Months (Potential for Extension)Pay Rate: $40-$42/hourSchedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PMStart Date: ASAPPosition SummaryWe are seeking a Product Safety Specialist to support a leading biotechnology organization in South Portland, Maine. This role will be responsible for reviewing product composition information, generating product safety documentation, and supporting compliance requirements for medical device products.The ideal candidate will possess a strong scientific background combined with exceptional attention to detail and documentation skills. This is a highly independent position requiring someone who can take ownership of the product safety process, gather information from multiple sources, and accurately document product composition and hazard information.This is a desk-based position and is not a laboratory or bench-science role.Key ResponsibilitiesReview product composition information and supporting technical documentationGenerate and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS/MSDS)Complete product composition and hazard assessment formsAnalyze chemical compositions and calculate product ingredient percentagesReview batch records, manufacturing documentation, and SOPs to obtain required product informationDocument sources and maintain traceability of data used in product safety documentationCollaborate with scientists, quality teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to gather product informationSupport product stewardship and regulatory compliance activitiesManage documentation updates through change control processesEnsure accuracy and completeness of all product safety recordsRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline5+ years of experience in biotechnology, life sciences, medical devices, chemicals, or another regulated industryExperience creating or maintaining SDS/MSDS documentationStrong understanding of product composition, chemical hazards, and product safety principlesExperience reviewing technical documentation, SOPs, batch records, or manufacturing recordsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent attention to detail and documentation accuracyAbility to work independently and manage assigned projects with minimal supervisionProficiency with Microsoft ExcelPreferred QualificationsProduct Safety, Product Stewardship, Regulatory Affairs, or Chemical Compliance experienceExperience supporting medical device productsFamiliarity with change management or change control processesExperience working within regulated environments including biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, chemicals, or medical devicesExperience with Agile methodologiesAdditional InformationOnsite position located in South Portland, MaineNo remote work availableCandidates should be located in New England or willing to relocate at their own expenseOne-round Teams interview processOpportunity for extension beyond the initial assignmentBy applying for this job, you agree to receive calls, AI-generated calls, text messages, or emails from and its affiliates, and contracted partners.
