This individual will own the full lifecycle of PCBA development, from requirements generation and component selection through schematic capture, layout oversight, design release, bring-up, verification, sustaining engineering, and root cause analysis.\nDay-to-Day Responsibilities:\nPCBA Design & Development\nOwn full PCBA development lifecycle from concept through production release.\nGenerate electrical requirements, block diagrams, architecture documentation, and design specifications.\nPerform component selection and schematic capture using Altium.\nDrive PCB layout development and review for signal integrity, power integrity, manufacturability, and reliability.\nSupport vendor DFM reviews and design release activities.\nSystem Integration & Validation\nDevelop bring-up procedures, test plans, and verification strategies.\nSupport board bring-up, debugging, validation, and root cause investigations.\nTroubleshoot released designs and support sustaining engineering efforts.\nGenerate design documentation, test reports, decision matrices, and 8D corrective action reports.\nCross-Functional Collaboration\nPartner closely with Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Firmware, Software, Manufacturing, and Test teams.\nSupport design reviews and ensure alignment across hardware and system-level requirements.\nBalance speed, rigor, safety, and reliability within an aggressive development environment.\nTechnical Scope:\nPower & Control Systems\n\n48V power distribution architecture\nHigh-power actuator, fan, and sensor control\nPower conversion including buck converters, LDOs, and power management systems\nData acquisition and control systems\nCommunication Interfaces:\n1000BASE-T1 Single Pair Ethernet (highly important)\nCAN-FD, SPI, UART, I2C, isoSPI, JTAG\nComponents & Subsystems:\n\nMCUs and MPUs\nSOM / SMARC carrier boards\nEthernet switches and PHYs\nADCs, DACs, IO expanders\nMotor drivers, gate drivers, high-side drivers\nSensor interfaces and control circuitry\nSafety & Compliance:\n\nDesign for high-power and hazardous environments\nUL 991, UL 1973, UL 1998, UL 9540\nSafety-critical communication architectures\nReliability-focused design methodologies\nMust-Haves:\n\nBS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.\n7+ years of electrical engineering experience (5+ with MS considered).\nStrong Altium experience (or equivalent ECAD platform).\nDemonstrated ownership of schematic capture and PCBA development.\nMulti-layer PCB design experience.\nBoard bring-up and hardware validation experience.\nExperience across the full product development lifecycle.\nHands-on experience with:\nEthernet (1000BASE-T1 strongly preferred)\nCAN-FD\nSPI, UART, I2C\nData acquisition systems\nControl systems\nMCU/MPU-based designs\nPower electronics and power management circuits\nExperience working in high-power, industrial, automotive, energy, battery, or similarly safety-critical environments.\nKnowledge of UL991, UL1973, UL1998, and/or UL9540 compliance requirements.\nStrong problem-solving, documentation, and cross-functional communication skills.\nAbility to operate independently with minimal oversight.\nNice-to-Haves:\n\n10+ years of experience.\nBattery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) experience.\nEV, automotive, industrial automation, or power systems background.\nExperience with DFMEA and CFMEA.\nFamiliarity with Arena, Teamcenter, or other PLM tools.\nExperience with JIRA and JAMA.\nSOM/carrier board architecture experience.\nDeep hands-on PCB layout execution experience, not just design review.\nExperience supporting production release and sustaining engineering.\nIdeal Candidate Profile:\nA senior hardware engineer who has personally owned complex PCBAs from requirements through production.
