As our Academic Director, you will work with other departments to help best facilitate a positive learning environment for the students. You will work directly with the teachers and other academic staff to schedule and to ensure that they are current on trainings.Work environment—DRS is a year round school with rolling admission and rolling discharges. Students are in school from 3pm -8pm daily. Working inside and outside in a ranch type environment including animals, experiencing varied weather conditions at times such as wind, rain, snow, ice, extreme heat or cold. Grounds consist of rocks, uneven grounds, cement, grass, dirt, and mud. Extremely noisy at times inside and outside of buildings.Physical demands— While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to hear and talk. This position frequently requires walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, sitting, lifting, reaching over your head. Employee will need to be able to lift or move objects weighing up to 30 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision clarity (100 yards), color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The temperature is regulated comfortably for a school setting. Travel— Industry meetings and conferences as required with some requiring overnight stays.The Academic Director is a member of the campus school's leadership team and as such:Assists in supervising academic personnel, a secondary curriculum, program of studies, effective classroom and teaching practicesProvide leadership and build positive relationships with all school stakeholdersServes as liaison between education, therapy, and residential departmentsRequirementsRequired education and experience— Bachelor degree, Secondary teaching certificate in subject field.
