This position will be a key contributor to our manufacturing process by playing a vital role in designing and developing cutting-edge mechanical solutions that drive our companys success.\n\nThe ideal candidate will have strong mechanical design capability with direct experience in hydraulic systems, fluid power, or mechanical power systems. Elevator industry experience, especially with hydraulic elevator systems, would be a major differentiator.\n\nThis role will be expected to become EECOs go-to technical resource for jack and power unit application support, application calculations, product troubleshooting, and quality-related technical issues. A major focus of the role will be hydraulic valve design, including the ability to independently design new hydraulic valves or significantly improve existing designs. This is a product development engineering role, not a production/process/materials engineering role.\n\nKey Responsibilities\nServe as a high-level mechanical engineering resource for EECO hydraulic elevator products, especially jacks, power units, and hydraulic valves.\nDevelop into the site subject matter expert for jack and power unit application support, including application calculations and technical troubleshooting.\nIndependently design new hydraulic valve concepts and/or significantly improve existing hydraulic valve designs.\nSupport product innovation related to hydraulic elevator systems, fluid control, valve performance, reliability, and manufacturability.\nSupport quality investigations and corrective actions related to hydraulic components, applications, and field or manufacturing issues.\nWrite, execute, and document engineering test plans for hydraulic components and systems.\nUse simulation and analysis tools to support design decisions, product validation, and pressure-containing component evaluation.\nSupport manufacturing as needed, especially in the areas of testing, welding/fabrication, machining basics, and assembly troubleshooting.\nImprove product design documentation, including drawings, specifications, calculations, BOMs, and engineering records.\nApply design-for-manufacturability principles to new and existing product designs.\nRead and interpret regulatory, code, customer, or internal requirement documents and translate those requirements into engineering designs and documentation.\nWork within common engineering processes such as ECOs, revision control, design reviews, validation testing, and controlled release of engineering documentation.\nMentor and train lower-level engineers and drafters where appropriate.\nAct as a technical lead for Richmond engineering activities until a formal local engineering management structure is established.\n\nRequired Experience and Skills\nMechanical engineering product development experience.\nStrong mechanical design capability with experience in fluid power, hydraulic systems, mechanical power systems, or similar products.\nAbility to independently design or substantially improve hydraulic components, especially valves.\nExperience using 3D CAD. SolidWorks is preferred, but experience with other major 3D CAD platforms is acceptable.\nSimulation experience required; specific tool is less important than demonstrated ability to use analysis to guide engineering decisions.\nAbility to write and execute engineering test plans.\nStrong design-for-manufacturability mindset.\nAbility to read, interpret, and implement technical requirements from codes, standards, specifications, or customer requirements.\nWorking knowledge of engineering change control, revision control, and structured engineering release processes.\nAbility to support manufacturing and quality issues in a hands-on production environment.\nStrong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineering, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and leadership teams.\n\nJob Requirements\nBachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field required\n7-10 years of proven experience in mechanical design within the elevator industry preferred.\nProven leadership experience, with a track record of successfully managing and developing engineering teams\nProficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and other relevant engineering tools.\nStrong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.\nFamiliarity with simulation and analysis tools for stress, thermal, and tolerance analysis.\nExcellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.\nEffective communication and interpersonal abilities for team collaboration and client interaction.\nExperience with project management, from concept to completion, is a plus.\n\nPreferred / Differentiating Experience\n\nElevator industry experience, especially hydraulic elevator systems.\nHydraulic jack, cylinder, power unit, or valve design experience.\nExperience with pressure-containing components or pressure-vessel-type analysis.\nExperience with tolerance analysis.\nExperience with hydraulic testing, performance validation, and troubleshooting.\nFamiliarity with ASME A17.1 or other elevator-related codes and standards.\nProfessional Engineer license.
