Deep browser and TypeScript work on the editing surface at the center of it, where correctness, latency, and memory are all first-class concerns.LEVEL Senior — 6–10+ years experienceFOCUS Approximately 70% technical / 30% collaborationAbout Digital HarborDigital Harbor builds technology that changes how people work together. Our products are reshaping collaboration inside large enterprises — and for individual users — by rethinking the surfaces where communication actually happens rather than adding features to models designed decades ago.Innovation is the work here, not a side initiative. Our teams operate in a collaborative, fast-moving environment where engineers contribute directly to the products they build and to the technical decisions behind them, and where a good idea can reach production quickly. We value people who are curious, adaptable, collaborative, and willing to take ownership. As our products and organization grow, we are focused on building scalable technology while keeping the agility and problem-solving mindset of a smaller company. For a senior engineer, Digital Harbor offers real technical ownership: subsystems you are accountable for, architectural decisions you get to make, and the leverage that comes from working on shared technology that many products depend on.About the JobDigital Harbor is hiring several Senior Full Stack Engineers for our product development team, with the emphasis firmly on front-end and browser-platform work. This is a role for an engineer who is comfortable in a large, strictly typed TypeScript codebase without a framework to lean on — someone who can reason about what the browser is actually doing and fix root causes rather than symptoms. You will own significant features and subsystems, drive technical decisions, mentor engineers earlier in their careers, and help keep our products fast and stable as they grow. What You’ll Work OnA rich text editing component embedded across multiple products — code that runs on every keystroke, where a millisecond of latency and a leaked reference both matter.Shared, versioned libraries consumed by several host applications, which means real API design and real backward-compatibility constraints.Direct work against the browser platform: contenteditable, Selection and Range, MutationObserver, composition and IME input, clipboard, and pointer and keyboard handling.AI- and language-assisted authoring features — text analysis, correction, and suggestion systems built into the editing experience, working primarily with Anthropic’s Claude.Performance and memory as ongoing engineering work: profiling, leak detection, and regression testing rather than one-off cleanups.Key ResponsibilitiesOwn features and subsystems end to end — design, implementation, release, and ongoing support.Write and review production TypeScript for a large browser-based codebase, holding a high bar for correctness and maintainability.Work directly with the DOM and browser APIs, including editing, selection, observer, input, and clipboard behavior across browsers.Build and maintain framework-independent components and shared libraries used by multiple applications, including Angular host apps.Diagnose hard problems — cross-browser DOM differences, race conditions, memory leaks, mobile keyboard and IME quirks — and resolve the underlying cause.Profile and improve performance: input latency, layout thrash, long tasks, retained memory. Measure before and after, and back changes with numbers.Integrate REST APIs and WebSocket services for live, real-time behavior, along with client-side storage where offline support calls for it.Version and publish shared packages without breaking the applications that depend on them.Mentor and raise the bar through code review, design feedback, and pairing with mid-level and junior engineers.Drive architectural improvements: reduce coupling, retire technical debt, and keep large modules maintainable as they grow.Strengthen the team’s testing and tooling — automated coverage, build and CI/CD pipelines, static analysis, and dependency checks.Write the technical documentation the next engineer will need.Participate in Agile practices including planning, refinement, standups, and iterative delivery.Work with AI as part of the toolchain — we use Claude extensively across development, debugging, testing, and documentation — while maintaining strong engineering judgment, code quality, security, and established development standards.Required Qualifications6–10+ years of professional software development experience, with substantial time on production web applications.Deep expertise in TypeScript and modern JavaScript (ES2020+), including comfort working in a large, strictly typed codebase.Strong command of the browser platform: the DOM, the event model, rendering and layout, and asynchronous execution.Hands-on experience with HTML5, CSS3, and a preprocessor such as SCSS, including responsive and cross-browser work.A working understanding of Angular is valuable — our host applications are built in it — though framework-independent component work is the core of this role.Proven browser debugging ability: DevTools, performance and memory profiling, source maps, and reproducing intermittent failures.Experience integrating REST APIs, and the ability to reason about asynchronous data flow — ordering, cancellation, and race conditions.Practical experience with a module bundler and build pipeline (Webpack, Vite, Rollup, or similar).Strong Git workflow in a collaborative development environment, including code review and CI/CD participation.Component and API design experience — you have built interfaces that other developers consume.A track record with automated testing, maintainable code, and web performance best practices.Experience working within an Agile software development environment.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to take an ambiguous problem through to resolution independently.Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools — we work primarily with Claude — and the judgment to know where they help and where they do not.Preferred QualificationsThe following experience is helpful but not required. The more of these you bring, the faster you will be productive:Rich text editing, contenteditable, or document-model work — editors, WYSIWYG surfaces, or collaborative text.Web Components, custom elements, and Shadow DOM.Mobile web depth: iOS Safari and Android Chrome, on-screen keyboards, and composition or IME input.Performance and memory profiling at depth — heap snapshots, leak detection, automated performance regression testing.WebSockets or other real-time application technologies.Accessibility standards and practice (WCAG, ARIA, screen readers).Node.js or other server-side development and API development.Cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS.Publishing versioned npm packages consumed by multiple applications, including private registries and deprecation strategy.Internationalization and localization.Reactive stream libraries such as RxJS, or client-side storage and offline sync with IndexedDB — both appear in our codebase without being central to the role.AI- or NLP-powered product features such as language models, text analysis, or suggestion and correction systems.Experience working within a SaaS, software product, or technology company.Day-to-day professional use of Claude or Claude Code. Experience with other assistants transfers, but Claude is what we standardize on.What Success Looks LikeIn your first 90 daysYou have shipped meaningful features and understand how our shared components fit into the products that embed them. You are taking production issues independently and shortening time to resolution. You have made at least one measurable improvement to performance or stability.Within your first yearYou own one or more subsystems outright and are the person the team goes to for them. You have set technical direction on a significant piece of work and carried it through release.Codebase health has measurably improved on your watch — less coupling, better test coverage, less debt.Your code reviews and design input visibly raise the quality of other engineers’ work. The team delivers faster without destabilizing the products that depend on your work.Skills & AttributesWe place a strong emphasis on technical ability while recognizing that successful software development requires excellent collaboration. This role is approximately 70% technical and 30% communication and collaboration focused.Successful candidates will demonstrate:Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain technical trade-offs to non-engineers.Mentorship and technical influence without relying on authority.Sound judgment about scope, risk, and when a change is worth making.Teamwork and cross-functional collaboration.Analytical thinking and strong problem-solving skills.Proactivity, ownership, and accountability.Adaptability and a genuine willingness to keep learning.Organization, prioritization, and follow-through.Curiosity and an interest in continuous technical improvement.Equal Employment OpportunityDigital Harbor is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
