Nursing Dir Women/Children
DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTIONSA registered healthcare professional who provides administrative direction on a 24-hour basis for the delivery of patient care or other patient care support service. The Department Director is responsible for the development of evaluation of his/her service taking into account future trends and anticipated changes in the industry. The Department Director maintains the operation of a service in a fiscally responsible manner and seeks new opportunities for improvement of services to patients/customers including efficiency programs and cost reduction efforts. The department Director supports the mission of the hospital and health system.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)Experience:Current management/leadership experience required. Three to five years of progressive experience in the service or profession. Clinical Department Directors should have a minimum of four years experience at the staff level, with evidence of growth in leadership skills. Experience working with and directing others in a fair, consistent and respectful manner. Education and Training:Baccalaureate Degree required, Masters Degree in Nursing, other healthcare field, or business desirable. License, Certification & Registration:RN License - Currently licensed as an RN in Massachusetts Other Requirements:Viewed as a role model for professionalism. Ability to interpret and administer policies. Demonstrates leadership ability and communicates a strong work ethic and commitment toward excellence in the healthcare service or profession. Excellent interpersonal skills, communicates effectively with patients, family members, physicians, management and staff. Well-organized and able to handle a variety of complex assignments simultaneously. Demonstrated understanding of Joint Commission and other regulatory standards. Demonstrated dependability.
