We foster an inclusive culture where people take ownership, solve meaningful problems, and continuously learn, because we believe diverse perspectives lead to better outcomes.\n\nJob Purpose\nAs the Senior Materials Processing Engineer at VulcanForms Inc., you will work with our Materials Scientists and Product Engineers; you will be responsible for developing and qualifying all post-build processing of additively manufactured parts fabricated by laser-based, metal powder bed fusion.\n\nThe successful candidate will develop part cleaning, heat-treating, surface improvement, and mechanical property test campaigns to substantiate part processing parameters that satisfy customer specifications, application, and visual requirements. Materials systems include Ni-based Superalloys, Stainless steels, and Ti-based alloys. In addition, the successful candidate will approve technical plans, author part, and material process specifications, define surface inspection procedures, perform destructive metallurgical analysis of parts, and provide customers with technical reports and certification documentation.\n\nThis opportunity is an exciting, technically challenging, hands-on role with support from a well-equipped metallurgical laboratory. The position is based in Burlington, MA but will require occasional travel, on an as-needed basis, to the nearby Devens, MA, manufacturing center.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nExperience with industrial-scale heat treating (vacuum furnaces, hot isostatic press)\n\nExperience with optical, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and metallographic sample prep\n\nTeam player with excellent communication skills\n\nSkilled using SEM, EDS, and Light microscope\n\nStrict compliance with safety policies and procedures\n\nQualifications\n\n5+ years working in medical implant, power generation, or aerospace materials laboratory\n\nStrong background in L-PBF metallurgy\n\nSkilled in metallurgical laboratory practices, including handling strong acids and bases\n\nExperience in NDT inspection\n\nExperience with RTT, ETT, Axial, and Rotating Beam fatigue testing, and data analysis\n\nVulcanForms offers a competitive salary and equity package. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience.
