Development & Grant Writing Volunteer

Position OverviewThis remote volunteer role focuses on fundraising, donor development, grant writing, and corporate partnerships. You will help build the financial resources that make A Million Thanks' military and veteran support programs possible. This role is ideal for someone who wants hands-on experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, business outreach, and corporate sponsorship strategy.Preference will be given to candidates who have a strong interest in supporting service members, veterans, and the mission of A Million Thanks.Expected ResponsibilitiesResearch corporations, foundations, and community partners for potential sponsorshipsDevelop and draft sponsorship packages and partnership proposalsWrite outreach emails and follow-up communication with companies and donorsConduct grant research and assist with drafting letters of inquiry and grantsBuild and maintain a fundraising prospect databaseSupport donor relations (thank-you messages, updates, stewardship communication)Prepare talking points and materials for partnership and donor meetingsTrack sponsorship deadlines, deliverables, and outreach effortsCollaborate with the Communications team to produce graphics and materials for campaignsContribute ideas to fundraising campaigns, donor appeals, and special initiativesSpecific Skills We're Looking ForStrong professional writing and communication skillsAbility to speak confidently and professionally with corporate contactsOrganized and detail-orientedResearch-oriented thinkerAbility to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlinesComfortable learning new tools (email platforms, Google Drive, CRM-type systems)Positive attitude and genuine interest in supporting military and veteran-focused programsSelf-motivated and able to work independently in a remote environment
