You will program the core simulation infrastructure and collaborate on building models of fluids, electronics, and multi-body physics systems. This role builds high-fidelity simulations used to develop cutting-edge software and hardware for Falcon, Falcon Heavy, Dragon, Starlink, and Starship.\r\nRESPONSIBILITIES\r\nDevelop and maintain real-time, high-fidelity simulation software for all vehicles\r\nPrototype and prove out key design concepts to quantify technical constraints\r\nMaintain the highest standards of excellence and continually improve reliability and performance of simulation software\r\nWork with simulation software users to develop new features and enhance user experience\r\nBASIC QUALIFICATIONS\r\nBachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or STEM discipline and 5+ years of software development experience; OR 7+ years of professional experience in lieu of a degree\r\n2+ years of development experience in C++\r\nPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE\r\nStrong software design and development skills in C++\r\nUnderstanding of distributed computing systems, networking protocols, memory management, and CPU scheduling\r\nThorough knowledge of classical physics and math (algebra, calculus, Euclidean geometry)\r\nStrong skills in debugging, performance optimization, and unit testing\r\nCreative problem-solving approach\r\nExperience with open-source C++ simulators such as ROS2 and Gazebo\r\nAbility to work effectively in a dynamic environment with changing needs and requirements\r\nAbility to work independently, take initiative, and communicate effectively\r\nADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS\r\nWillingness to work extended hours and weekends when needed\r\nCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS\r\nPay range: Software Engineer/Senior – $160,000 – $225,000 per year\r\nBase salary determined by knowledge, skills, education, and experience\r\nEligible for long-term incentives (stock, options, or awards) and discretionary bonuses\r\nAnnual bonus potential and employee stock purchase plan opportunity\r\nComprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage\r\n401(k) retirement plan with company match\r\nShort- and long-term disability insurance and life insurance\r\nPaid parental leave, paid vacation (3 weeks), and 10+ paid holidays per year\r\nPaid sick leave pursuant to company policy\r\nEEO & Equal Opportunity\r\nSpaceX is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
